Ann Coulter Shocks Cable TV Show, Declaring 'Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians'
FOX ^ | 10/11/07 | Unknown

Posted on 10/11/2007 10:36:00 AM PDT by Froufrou

Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.

Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."

In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."

"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.

"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."

Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."

Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

The issue is "abortion". I assure you Islam doesn't particularly care if Christian children are slaughtered in the womb.

End of story.

Christians believe that their doctrine is true, and they want to convince others of the truth of their doctrine, i.e. convert them to Christianity. Nothing new there, nothing offensive to anyone, either. Ann is just stating the obvious.

Get some help

My good FRiend Charles HAS help.

The Name of that Help is Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.

You can meet Him today as your Saviour, or mock and ridicule your way to eternity when you will then meet Him as your Judge.

You really don't want to meet Him that way.

Because then YOU won't be able to "get help"

Nice post at #9 Charles, well said FRiend.

Do you really believe that? In my experience when a Jew embraces Christianity the only people who continue to respect their Jewishness are Christians and other Jews who embraced Christianity

Yes, I really believe that. And yes, you are correct that other Jews sometimes do not recognize the converts Jewishness. But that is the other Jews' problem, not the converts' problem. You are a Jew in the heart and that's what's important to God. Sure, there will be conflicts within the Jewish community over the convert's Jewishness, but when has this not been so? It will always be so until Jesus' return proves to them otherwise............

Its more shocking to say you're a Christian today than its shocking to say you're an atheist.

You are going to have to spell it out for me. I copy pasted the title and it was too long. I removed superfluous verbage such as ‘shocks talk show host with her comments.’

I added nothing to it except for the colon.

I posted with genuine interest to know what other FReepers had to say about it. If I have done something wrong, it has been completely unintentional.

but she could have been a little more circumspect...........

It's her forth-rightfulness that I like about her. There's so little of that today. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Just look at our leaders with their nuance and their shills explaining what they really said. She and a few others are breathes of fresh air.

I don't agree with her its necessary for any one to convert to Christianity - or Islam to believe in God. All one has to do is believe in God and follow His teachings. The real problem isn't that Jews haven't converted. The real problem is the decline of faith in God in the West.

True -- unless you use the word "Christian," like many do today, to mean "I'm a nice guy and anything you do is OK by me."

The reason she’s going to get heat is because she used the word “perfected”. That word has an alternative meaning thanks to Hitler and others like him. The word has been corrupted. My instinct was to cringe as a result.

She’s not anti-semitic, she’s not Pat Buchanon, and I get what’s she means by reading the transcript in context (novel concept), though I don’t think she expressed herself well at all during the interview. Someone who doesn’t understand Christian theology is not going to come away understanding it any better after that interview.

First of, the interviewer is offended she believes the world would better if everyone was a Christian. The interviewer equates that to the extremisism of Iran’s mullahs and implies that means she wants Israel extreminiated off the map. Completely ignoring, I guess, that Christians defend Israel better then any in this world without any demands they believe as we do in return.

There is nothing that should be controversial about a Christian believing if everyone expressed a committment to Jesus Christ and followed His teachings this world would be a better place. Name a real religion that does not believe the same of their tenets? Liberals certainly believe if we all went “Green” the world would be a better place. Oh, right, they pretend it’s “science” and not religion they are expressing.

I’ll go one step further. Not only would the world be better, but I do NOT believe in this mantra Bush was preaching the other day that we all pray to the same God.

We Don’t.

Nor do you get to heaven without expressing the belief Jesus Christ Is the Son of God, seeking forgiveness from Him, and committing to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I disagree with Coulter on that point. I don’t believe you are going to get to heaven if you are a Jew that has yet to accept Christ anymore then if you are an athiest, Muslim or whatever.

Basically this guy is trying to tie proselytizing into being the same as edicts to murder non believers. I’ll not let that go unchallenged. Unfortunately, the word she used gives the Liberals an excuse to go after Christians (Again) and cowardly conservatives reason to rebuke her and Christianity by default and they’ll repeat this mantra about inclusivenes and pray to the same God and blah, blah...all because they won’t read the context, they’ll presume she uses “perfected” in the context Hitler used it, and they will runs as the wimps they are rather then set the record straight.

I’m sorry if anything I said could be considered “persecuting” the Jews. The Jewish people were God’s chosen people, and he has a special place in his heart for them. He sent his Son to die for them, and that message was delivered to them first.

As a practical matter, if you don’t believe in Jesus Christ, it should not be “persecution” to have someone who does tell you that you need to believe in Jesus Christ.

I don’t consider myself persecuted when liberals tell me I should vote Democratic. If you are comfortable in your religious beliefs, you should not feel threatened by those who have differing beliefs and express them.

If Ann’s message does disturb you, I beg you to consider the possibility that it isn’t what Ann is saying that disturbs you, but rather the Spirit of God. If Ann makes you question your position, please look into it. I say that in love.

She is entitled to her common Christian theology, but during an election year and a war on terror, what she sad was bad. Instead of attacking Henry Waxman, Hillary's money laundering, the Fairness Doctrine, the military haters, and Arab threats on Rudi Guiliani's life, this is another bad distraction. The left is jumping on everything as an excuse to push their agenda....Having said that, it will give great fodder for the drive-by media to skewer anything that she says, and by proxy what the conservative movement says.

That's right, my post from the other thread. The dems and media will make hay with this one. Boost her book sales though.

Ann's a bombthrower, and she's out for Ann. This will help her personally. To the extent she's associated with the Republican Party, and as I noted during the faggot incident excitement, that association should be minimized.

The JDC's call for her to be boycotted is absurd, however criticism should be expected. Essentially she characterized the Republican as a Christian party, and advanced the position that the nation would be a better place without Jews.

I doubt she believes that, but it's a stupid statement if one is trying to advance a political agenda. Smart if the intent is personal aggrandizement. This won't hurt her book sales a bit. My bold.

DEUTSCH: Let me ask you a question. We're going to get off strengths and weakness for a second. If you had your way, and all of your – forget that any of them –

COULTER: I like this.

DEUTSCH: – are calculated marketing teases, and your dreams, which are genuine, came true having to do with immigration, having to do with women's – with abortion – what would this country look like?

DEUTSCH: And what did that look like?

COULTER: It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like.

COULTER: Happy, joyful Republicans in the greatest city in the world.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country – it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.

COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like [Sen.] Joe Lieberman [I-CT], the Republican Party would look like [Rep.] Duncan Hunter [R-CA] –

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, I don't want – I'm not talking about politically the landscape. What would our – would we be safer? Would people be happier? Would they be more –

COULTER: We would be a lot safer.

DEUTSCH: Would there be more tolerance? Would there be – would women be happier, would the races get along better? The Ann Coulter subscription – prescription. What – tell me what would be different in our fabric of country, because –

COULTER: Well, all of those things.

DEUTSCH: – I can give – I can give you an argument there would be more divisiveness, that there would be more hate –

COULTER: Oh, no.

DEUTSCH: – that there would be a bigger difference between the rich and the poor, a lot of other – tell me what – why this would be a better world? Let's give you – I'm going to give you – say this is your show.

COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they –

DEUTSCH: Christian – so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?

COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?

DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Jew, I should be a Christian, and this would be a better place?

COULTER: Well, you could be a practicing Jew, but you're not.

DEUTSCH: I actually am. That's not true. I really am. But – so we would be better if we were - if people – if there were no Jews, no Buddhists –

COULTER: Whenever I'm harangued by –

DEUTSCH: – in this country? You can't believe that.

COULTER: – you know, liberals on diversity –

DEUTSCH: Here you go again.

COULTER: No, it's true. I give all of these speeches at megachurches across America, and the one thing that's really striking about it is how utterly, completely diverse they are, and completely unself-consciously. You walk past a mixed-race couple in New York, and it's like they have a chip on their shoulder. They're just waiting for somebody to say something, as if anybody would. And –

DEUTSCH: I don't agree with that. I don't agree with that at all. Maybe you have the chip looking at them. I see a lot of interracial couples, and I don't see any more or less chips there either way. That's erroneous.

COULTER: No. In fact, there was an entire "Seinfeld" episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying.

DEUTSCH: Oh, because of some "Seinfeld" episode? OK.

COULTER: But yeah, I think that's reflective of what's going on in the culture, but it is completely striking that at these huge megachurches – the idea that, you know, the more Christian you are, the less tolerant you would be is preposterous.

DEUTSCH: That isn't what I said, but you said I should not – we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or –

COULTER: Yeah.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly believe that.

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly – you're too educated, you can't – you're like my friend in –

COULTER: Do you know what Christianity is? We believe your religion, but you have to obey.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, but I mean –

COULTER: We have the fast-track program.

DEUTSCH: Why don't I put you with the head of Iran? I mean, come on. You can't believe that.

COULTER: The head of Iran is not a Christian.

DEUTSCH: No, but in fact, "Let's wipe Israel" –

COULTER: I don't know if you've been paying attention.

DEUTSCH: "Let's wipe Israel off the earth." I mean, what, no Jews?

COULTER: No, we think – we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.

DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?

COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners –

DEUTSCH: In my old days, I would have argued – when you say something absurd like that, there's no –

COULTER: What's absurd?

DEUTSCH: Jews are going to be perfected. I'm going to go off and try to perfect myself –

COULTER: Well, that's what the New Testament says.

DEUTSCH: Ann Coulter, author of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans," and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally. And we'll have more "Big Idea" when we come back.

DEUTSCH: Welcome back to "The Big Idea." During the break, Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment. So I'm going to give her a chance. So you don't think that was offensive?

COULTER: No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe – this is just a statement of what the New Testament is – is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament.

DEUTSCH: You said – your exact words were, "Jews need to be perfected." Those are the words out of your mouth.

COULTER: No, I'm saying that's what a Christian is.

DEUTSCH: But that's what you said – don't you see how hateful, how anti-Semitic –

COULTER: No!

DEUTSCH: How do you not see? You're an educated woman. How do you not see that?

COULTER: That isn't hateful at all.

DEUTSCH: But that's even a scarier thought. OK –

COULTER: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you being offended by this. This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.

DEUTSCH: We will let the audience decide then, won't we? Ann Coulter. New book. More "Big Idea" straight ahead.

Re: 9

You said it better than I.
She'll catch grief over this, but at least she remembered what is important.

Mark 8:35-38 [Jesus said:]
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Good for Ann for not being ashamed of stating what she believes and for declaring God's Love (Who IS the Way, the Truth, and the Life...).

And yet when the average imam sincerely repeats what his holy book says, that Jews are dogs and worthy of nothing but death, everyone just smiles and pretends like they don’t smell the fart. Isn’t that interesting?
