UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.

A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

“The President will probably be out here in a day or so... whaddya think?”

Emergency Executive Order to allow all property owners nationwide and The BLM to clean out dead trees, over growth, and debris from all private and government lands. This is not a perfect solution to what we see going on now but would, in the long term, save homes and make for healthier forest and wild lands.

You also made an idiotic comment upthread about how this area is due to be flattened: not helpful or needed.

Very well said dragnet2.

FR has no place for those that can’t think beyond the box and wish harm upon those that are dealing with a life altering tragedy.

Hilltop.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, and you have got it right: the wind at times has a crazy fast swirling effect.... it is also called the “devil wind.”

Fire chief on Fox news just said that if the wind continues blowing strongly to the West, this fire storm could do a complete 35 mile run all the way to the ocean, burning multi-million dollar mansions in it’s path to the ground.

God help them..
~~~
They have been saying that all day about many of these fires.,,,
No way they can be stopped till the wind dies down,,,
That ain’t gunna happen for 24hrs.+...
They just said on 10news.com that no relief in site until tomorrow by end of day....that’s, as you said, almost another 24 hours....lots can go up in smoke, literally, by that time. She just said winds won’t likely die down until Thursday.
Right now saying on screen “potentially damaging winds extreme fire danger.”
Mandatory evacuation area just expanded in the Witch fire. Now south of Del Dios Hwy, west of Black Mountain Rd, north of Sorrento Valley Rd....all the way to the ocean.
Sorrento Valley Rd traces the northern boundary of Mira Mesa. There are lots of canyon fingers that reach into north Mira Mesa...especially near Montongo & Mira Mesa Blvd. Fairly close to my old house in Mira Mesa.
