BOSTON (AP) Sounds like a baseball flip-flop. Rudy Giuliani, a lifelong New York Yankees fan, said Tuesday he's pulling for their most hated rivals, the Boston Red Sox, to win the World Series over the Colorado Rockies.
"I'm rooting for the Red Sox," the Republican presidential contender said in response to a question, sparking applause at the Boston restaurant where he was picking up a local endorsement.
"I'm an American League fan, and I go with the American League team, maybe with the exception of the Mets," he said. "Maybe that would be the one time I wouldn't because I'm loyal to New York."

northeastern liberal, no shock there
The ONLY time I can recall Yankee fans pulling for the Sox is when they played the Mets in the World Series.
Maybe. Having little to say of any substance, both of them will meander off into sports drivel to use up time...
Questions are also asked completely devoid of substance pertaining to what a president actually does. So, yes they are the same...
Red Sox ping.
Actually, I was referring to Hillary’s proclamations of being a Yankee fan AND a Cub fan.
In the mean time, Hillary, a life-long baseball fan, is backing the Yankees in the World Series.
Er, White Sox. No, Cubs.
You know that Hillary’s people are busily researching which NASCAR driver she needs to become a lifelong fan of.
She’ll probably tell us stories about watching the Cubs play the Rockies at Wrigley Field when she was a child. Never mind the fact that the Rockies didn’t exist until 1993.
Why the hell would Rudy root for the Yankees if they’re not in the series?
Why am I not surprised?
This is small potatoes, I know... But any Yankee fan who puts on a Boston cap should wind up with a ring shaped scar around his head as it sears his flesh. The very B should be emblazoned on the flesh of his forehead as an eternal mark of shame.
It is, theoretically, possible to be a Cubs fan and a Yankee fan, particularly because they play in different leagues.
But to be a Yankees fan and a Bosox fan is not possible without some kind of a psychological explaination, like split personality or something. It would be like a Ranger fan rooting for the Bruins. He would have to kick his own a$$.
As a Red Sox fan, I would always root for the Yankees in the World Series.
After all, one doesn’t change league loyalty at the end.
The political comments are stupid.
As a Yankees fan, I always root for the American League team too. With certain exceptions.
I will NOT under ordinary conditions root for the Red Sox. I DID however root for the Red Sox in ‘86, as my hatred of the Mets supersedes my hatred of the Sox.
DAMN YOU BILL BUCKNER!!!!!
Nah, as a NYY fan I hate the Sox also and want them to lose. But I know more then one NYY fan who think as he does.
Hillary is a fan of everything...
“Fan” is from the word fanatic. Worship of idols... same as Julie-Annie...
