Pat Robertson endorses Giuliani
The Politico ^ | November 7, 2007 | Mike Allen

Posted on 11/07/2007 5:51:19 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Pat Robertson, one of the nation's most influential Christian leaders, plans to endorse former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani today, the Politico has learned.

Giuliani has struggled to win support of social conservatives because of his moderate views on abortion and gay rights. But now he has one of the most resonant imprimaturs with Christian voters.

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), meanwhile, plans to announce his surprise endorsement of former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president on Wednesday, a campaign official told Politico.

The endorsement is to be announced in Dubuque, Iowa.

The alliance gives McCain — once a front-runner, now struggling — a crucial bridge to social conservatives, an important constituency that has remained suspicious of him despite his opposition to abortion.

Conservative and Republican views only partly overlap. Some conservatives are concerned about Giuliani and his front runner status. Others are not.

Events will unfold as they will whether or not we here approve of them.

Weyrich

Did Weyrich endorse anyone? I'd be surprised if he sells out.

Really? How interesting your comment is. I too find breathless hyperbole a persuasive debate technique. Next, you can work on, “the sky is falling”.

Practice makes perfect.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but the Republican party has been self destructing for years — all without Arnold’s help.

you got it. I was leaning towards Romney, but I like Rudy a lot better and if Robertson supports him, I bet Rudy gave him a promise on judges. With Ted Olson already supporting Rudy, and the fact that Rudy will want to get re-elected, I think Rudy is a reasonable bet for a conservative Supreme Court.

Of course anyone Hillary picks will be a disaster.

Cult name: Roman Catholicism

Founder: Emperor Constantine, organized in early 300’s A.D.

Overview: The largest, most respected cult in the world. But God don’t respect it. It centers around the worship of a pagan goddess which has been renamed Mary and a cracker god named Jesus.

Cult Tenets/Characteristics: See The Catholic “Church” is not Christian which is on this website. You may also go to our home page and peruse our section on Catholicism.

Not suprised by this endorsement. And I doubt it will be the last from influential Evangelicals.

I agree, after all this is “Hurricane Pat” Robertson, who seems to have an affinity for those spinning storms ( A couple of examples):

“Hollywood — Pat Robertson on Sunday said that Hurricane Katrina was God’s way of expressing its anger at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its selection of Ellen Degeneres to host this year’s Emmy Awards. ‘By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event, these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath,’”

Robertson prayed to God to steer hurricanes away from his companies’ Virginia Beach, Virginia, headquarters. He credited his prayers for steering the course of Hurricane Gloria in 1985, which caused billions of dollars of destruction in many states along the U.S. east coast. He made a similar claim about another destructive storm, Hurricane Felix, in 1995.[21]”

Quite a few years ago -- I think it was the early 1980s -- I was watching him on TV saying how the world had gotten to the point that God could not keep it going much longer. He said that the end would come in no more than two years from that point. He appears to have been wrong. (After all the people who've made laughingstocks of themselves by "predicting the end" -- and in the face of the Bible, which clearly states that NO MAN knows it -- he had the temerity to casually let that gem drop from his lips.

I'm not voting for Rudy.

I'm not saying I will either...yet. However if it comes to him or Hillary, I'd rather go into combat with Rudy. And that's what it will have come down to.

You’re right: this is really, really big... I still don’t trust Rudy much, but Robertson has loads of influence whether people want to admit it or not, and he IS definitely proLife - and he’ll have influence in a Rudy presidency, if that comes to pass.

I wonder how much money Rudy paid for this endorsement.

HJ: thanks for your clarity.

Please folks - we have to recognize that Hitlery IS the most dangerous candidate in for the presidency. Even four years only of her will assure a Leftist Liberal Supreme Court for the next twenty years since there are CERTAINLY two judges who will be replaced with Ginsberg clones by 2010: Ginsberg and Stevens, and it is highly likely that another “moderate” or “conservative” will leave before 2012. We can’t afford even four years of her to have any chance of eliminating some of the leftist decisions in my lifetime.

With Rudy, I do trust that he’ll nominate more “constitutionalist” candidates - probably not as good as Thomas, but much, much better than Hitlery’s choices. We have to keep our eye on the ball here: we’re so very close now - we can’t afford to blow the near opportunity we have.

Still hoping for a different GOP candidate to get the nomination, but I’ll support any of them (even Paul) over Hitlery.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Mark 8:36

It doesn’t matter if Rudy can beat Hillary or Osama or Radical Islam itself if the cost of those victories is the destruction of the US and every God-given right and conservative value held dear.....

Rudy is as happy as a claim in water. Supported partial birth abortion, committed adultery, and gets a pass!

Giuliani represents everything that we have been fighting in the Republican Party for the last 20 years. He is pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, pro-gun control, a little bit of a fascist, a serial adulterer and a jerk. I will never vote for him and if he is the Republican Nominee I will leave the Republican Party.

Amen!
