IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Operation Santa-USMC launches holiday outreach for troops

Last year the Marine Corps Family Foundation, along with the dedicated help of Marine Corps families and friends, sent Christmas-in-a-Box to over 17,000 Marines deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. For many of these young men and women, this will be their first Thanksgiving and Christmas they will be away from home and family. And it is an unfortunate fact that some of these young men and women will not receive mail and packages from friends and family members. Marine Corps Moms and many other volunteers hope to make a difference for our Marines through Operation Santa-USMC.

Operation Santa-USMC will provide battalions of Marines with Christmas-in-a-Box. Battalions are made up of 4 or more companies, and each company has a number of platoons with 30 or more Marines. Each platoon in the battalions will receive a box containing individual filled Christmas stockings for each Marine in the platoon, plus games, food, decorations and treats for the Marines to share.

We need church groups, organizations, clubs, employer groups, etc. to sponsor platoons and fill their boxes. We also need donations to help with postage. All items need to be collected and stockings packed so that boxes will be mailed by the last week in November.

All donations to the Marine Corps Family Foundation are tax deductible.

Watch our website, Marine Corps Family Foundation for updates on this project.

Purely vanity as my first post. I've been involved with Operation Santa-USMC for four years now and have sent "Christmas in a Box" to my son's Company, and then Battalion, then his friend's Company which is deployed now. We have grown from just a few Marine Moms to sending packages to 17,000 deployed Marines and wounded warriors last year. This year we had hoped to send to all deployed Marines and many of the wounded, totaling 25,000. We need volunteers to provide notes of support and filled stockings with hi-protein food, toiletries and entertainment items to each Marine.

If you can adopt a platoon of 30-40 and collect and mail within the next 3 weeks, or just make a donation, we'd appreciate it greatly. The contact would be Connie Click Here to Adopt a Platoon

Thanks Freepers-I know I can count on you!

Let’s just hope that the fringe liberal groups who don’t want a military, don’t believe in Santa, and want to eliminate Christmas don’t start some protests about this event. You don’t mess with Marines!
