Television has become chickified and the newscasts and primetime TV programs reflect it. Its hard to find a strong male role model on television. What you have is a woman's idea of a man. No man in real life is like the fantasy image that women have of a man.

Watch DVDs of old John Ford or Alfred Hitchcock films. Or classic Film Noir or screwball comedies. Men are men, and women are women.

Asian films are still like that today. Even the martial arts films with fighting females don’t denigrate men, and the ladies are still feminine and pretty.

About five years ago, there was a Progressive Insurance ad where the woman, in front of a computer screen and witnessing her BF via a webcam in a club talking to another female, created a scissors and then cut him in the groin. An altered version, without the cutting, was shown countless times later.

A few months ago, a caller to Rush mention an ad for Lowe’s that humiliated the male in the ad.

Ive got a different angle on it:

"Perry" is the masculinized nickname of Presencia Gonzales-Mason, a size 0 "differently enabled" ambiguously lesbian private eye with the ability to read psychic residue who was trained as a super-ninja by the CIA before being kicked out for resisting the racist plans of the US government.

Her sidekick is a fawning and eternally imperiled jewish guy who, flirting and flaming his way out of trouble, is just oh so funny with connections to "the good guys" in the mafia.

Her boyfriend who holds down the house and operates the lab that she turns to in a pinch is a transgendered 187 IQ black Muslim computer genius, MD, and astrophysicist who is best friends with the sidekick (which incidentally proves that people from different backgrounds can live together if they would only give peace a chance).

George Mason, is the drunken child molesting Republican ex-congressman and ex-husband turned priest who, unknown to Perry, actually orchestrates the crimes on behalf of white supremacist right-wing radio talk show hosts.

And then there are the new Fidelity ads (what is it with the financial firms?) that make any race of husband seem like an idiot - one poor guy is enamored with his car, the other makes the terrible error of calling a rollover a turnover.
