I don’t like Hilary at all, but I’ve gotta give her and her people credit on this one. As politics goes (politics in the nastiest sense), this was a brilliant stroke.
The best part is that whether there is any dirt on Obama is completely irrelevant. They’ve planted a seed that there’s something lurking there, and the Clinton camp has complete deniability because Novak (or, “those dirty trick republicans”) is the one who breaks it. If a democrat sypathizer had broken the story, the Clintons would have had to ‘fess up or completely repudiate the story. Since it’s Novak who breaks it, they just call it a dirty republican trick to divide the party.
