Even though I share your sentiments about the NY state rats, this initiative is a bad idea. This initiative is a trial run for the entire country. The Colorado governor is doing a similar thing. If carried to completion, these initiatives will drive electricity rates much higher, leading to price controls and shortages. The initiatives of course will not reduce CO2 levels or change the climate but they will make the rats feel powerful.

If implemented at the federal level, we’re screwed.

But, if implemented regionally, it’s a great way for the liberal a$$clown state governors to drive businesses and population out of their states.

If I were the governor of a Southern state, I’d be running full-page ads in NY and CO papers. “Your governor is an idiot! Bring your business to __! We won’t impoverish you with carbon-credit taxes in the name of enviro-weenie polical correctness!”

I wonder how many burned out Michigans we’d end up with before the “brave pioneers” wise up and repeal their stupid programs.

The objective of this plan is to make lighting, heat, air conditioning, refrigeration, hot water, televisions, radios, computers, and everything else that uses electricity utterly unaffordable to increasingly large segments of the middle classes and unfathomable to rapidly increasing poor and destitute classes. Electricity in the very near future—certainly in four years—will become a luxury, and the overwhelming majority of the people will need to learn to live without it. Even for the affluent, electricity supplies will become erratic and unreliable. These trends will lead businesses that use electricity to increase prices drastically while decreasing availability of their products while dropping jobs and wages. We’re all getting much poorer very quickly beginning in 2009.

The whole carbon credits idea is nothing but a socialist plot to further drive the US to ruin, while enriching the elites like Al Gore and the folks at Goldman Sachs. Does any SANE person believe that even IF reducing CO@ could stop the natural warming of the planet, and even IF the US cut CO2 emissions in HALF, that the rest of the world would not just fill in where our CO2 emissions were cut? Will Saudi Arabia pump less oil? NO!!...Will China stop opening one new cheap/dirty coal plant every 7-10 days? NO!! Will India and the rest of the developing world slow there economies in order to cap their quickly rising CO@ emissions? NO, NO, NO!!! The morons who have devised these carbon trafing schemes are taking everyone for fools. As they jst off to the UN Climate Change Conference in their private jets, the rest of us are elft to ponder a country with energy shortages, higher costs, and a declining economy. I feel like I am leving in an alternate reality, where black is white, and vice versa.

Idiots. The only hope of converting to a hydrogen economy is by reducing electricity costs. If prices go up, hydrogen becomes even less feasible.

Hydrogen is a means of storing electricity. But the only way for it to work is for it to cost less than oil.
