the precursors for chemical weapons are called dual use material

JV,

I believe I read in one of your translated Iraqi documents that chemical suits and handling equipment were purchased or moved from a unit to another.

Phosgene is one of these precursors. This gas is so lethal that makes handling it in process plants a nightmare. I remember in the 80s, a leak of MIC (Methyl Isocyanate) in a Union Carbide Plant, killed thousands and injured tens of thousands in Bopal, India. A few years later, I recommended to a client who managed an organic synthesis plant producing intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry, to upgrade their phosgene handling. That included, negative-pressure reactor room, with its vent system and safety relief valves tied up to a 24/7 running scrubber (tower) to protect against any leaks and/or large releases, UPS (uninterrupted Power Supply), etc. The design was too expensive for the client that made them decide to stop using phosgene and to use another route all together.

This can give people an idea how lethal phosgene is as a WMD and was found in Iraq contrary to the no-WMDs-found-in-Iraq MSM songs.

Here is an interesting link about what was officially found in Iraq :

On August 24th, 2007, vials of purported phosgene were found near the United Nations headquarters in New York City, where the sample had been forgotten after being retrieved from Iraq in 1996. The FBI helped remove the chemicals and there was no danger. Preliminary sampling indicates a non-threatening agent (industrial solvent) as first reported by The Daily News (NYTimes.com, September 5, 2007).

This is freaking scary! I knew this was true, I had wished it would have come out sooner. I just hope it will be taken seriously now.

Sorry, the link the find in Iraq was omitted. Here it is:

Excellent post. All the precursors required for chemical weapons were under a program the Iraq “The Pharmaceutical and Pesticides Project” so they can hide their real intention. Saddam regime never called WMD with their real name but they always gave them fake industrial name. For example their ex-nuclear project before the 1991 Gulf War was called the Petrochemical III project. Even if their top secret document they did call chemical weapons as “chemical weapons” but they called it “special ammunitions”.

I wonder why they have stopped talking about the tunnels that connected Iraq to Iran and Syria. You would think that would be relevant to the weapons programs.

No, we do not have one giant smoking gun photo of the elephant because most of it is covered up (again) by the national security blanket of classification. But we do have enough snapshots from the Saddam files to make a reliable outline of the giant beast that was the Iraqi WMD program. At some point, we have to throw away all the denial arguments as ridiculous, and admit that the size of the evidence elephant is too overwhelming to ignore.

When all the major players have staked their reputations on the beast's non-existence, expect to be ignored unless you have a giant smoking gun.

Bush has chosen to sacrifice his own reputation and his own party's political future to protect Putin's rule in Russia. I guess the risk of a Zhirinovsky-type getting his hands on thermonuclear-tipped missiles was just deemed too great.

Can you tell me what was the "Milk Factory" a code for? That's a tough nut to crack! LOL

We seem to have a predisposition to massive self-deception.

Ofttimes I wonder if we can survive our fools...

Why am I not surprised there was and continues to be a cover up of mistakes made in the WMD intelligence.

The egotistical government bureaucrats only want to preserve their jobs and will do anything to cover up mistakes they made regarding WMD.

Of course, the MSM has fallen for the no WMD angle hook, line, and sinker. And the Democrats propegate the lies and coverups to make Bush look bad.
Just like the recent intelligence assessment on Iran and their nukes. The report is a very timely report for the Democrats and makes me suspect that a political operative in the intelligence community has deliberately withheld and covered up pertinent facts on the Iran nuke program.

I suspect some of the same people in the Iranian nuke assessment are also involved in the WMD coverup in Iraq.
