Laurel City Police have arrested an illegal alien in connection with a fatal hit & run in Laurel.
Police arrested 30-year-old Rodolfo Ramirez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who has a valid Maryland drivers license.
Police said he confessed to be the driver who hit and killed 45-year-old Ruth Storm on November 25th. The Laurel Police chief said if Ramirez had stopped at the scene, he would not have been charged.
Storm was struck and killed in the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.
ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 reporter Jay Korff spoke with Storm's family who are very upset that the driver could hit someone with their car and not stop to offer help.
Karen Storm, the victim's cousin, wants to know how an illegal alien has a valid driver's license. "How do you get a license if you are an illegal alien?"

I live two miles from where this “accident” occurred. They should lock this guy up and deport him when his sentence is completed.

How the heck did he get that license? The system is a mess. And to top it all off - if he had stayed at the scene he would have walked because they wouldn’t have checked his status!

Maryland is so currupt that I’m sure an illegal could get a license very easily. Probably somebody hawking at the DMV.
There are two types of "illegal alien":
1) Those who crossed the border illegally, without passport or visa.
2) Those who crossed the border legally, with passport and visa, but have remained here after their visa expired.
Category 2 could have gotten a valid DL while their visa was still valid, although if the MVA had their act together (HAH!) the DL would be set to expire the same day as the visa.
Every LEGAL resident of the state of MD should be asking the good governor this same question.

I don't know about Maryland, but in Florida, a non-immigrant just has to show an unexpired I-94 form, which is given upon arrival to anyone who enters the country legally, even on a 6-month tourist visa. So one can enter the country on a 6-month tourist visa, immediately get a driver's license good for 4 years, and not leave after 6 months, becoming . . . an illegal alien with a valid driver's license.

I would imagine so. So you would probably have to have some command of English for the written test, although not much if it’s multiple choice.

Yes Maryland doesnt care about illegration status and it’s getting better. The democrats are setting up non-policed speed cameras to collect $75 fines without stopping the drivers at all. So you wont even need a license, MD just wants that extra money. Welcome to hell!
