Laurel City Police have arrested an illegal alien in connection with a fatal hit & run in Laurel.
Police arrested 30-year-old Rodolfo Ramirez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who has a valid Maryland drivers license.
Police said he confessed to be the driver who hit and killed 45-year-old Ruth Storm on November 25th. The Laurel Police chief said if Ramirez had stopped at the scene, he would not have been charged.
Storm was struck and killed in the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.
ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 reporter Jay Korff spoke with Storm's family who are very upset that the driver could hit someone with their car and not stop to offer help.
Karen Storm, the victim's cousin, wants to know how an illegal alien has a valid driver's license. "How do you get a license if you are an illegal alien?"

BTW, you aren’t flying a State flag ... Do you live in Maryland? Do you live in a State or Federal District that borders Maryland? What is the factual basis for your claim that “Maryland doesnt care about illegration status”?
Well,...one of the the arguments for driver’s licenses for illegals is that they be able to assimilate and get insurance.
I wonder how much insurance Senor Ramirez has? Probably won’t be enough and probably won’t be much comfort to the victim’s family? Just a guess.

I don’t know, AB. Maybe the Takoma Park vote. The funding for Casa de Maryland. The MCO police refusal to check for immigration status. Plenty of evidence MD is trying to bring in the illegals that VA is kicking out.

And the convenient argument - them being illegal has nothing to do with the crimes - is hogwash. How much common sense does it take to see that if they are here illegally then how can they know, understand and respect our culture and laws? It even comes down to basic things like they don’t think to cross the street at the light at busy intersections.
My experience (and that of my friends) with MVA/DMV employees is that no greater bunch of mindless "letter of the law" bureaucratic drones exists. If your papers aren't in order, they tell you to go away. It's easier (for them) that way.

I live in Howard county that used to be republican but was invaded by democrats who now vote every vote to raise taxes. The answer to your question is here :

1) Provide proof of age. You must be at least 15 years and nine months old.
2) Supply two documents establishing your Maryland residency.
3) Disclose your Social Security number, either verbally or via a card.

BTW, I thought giving them licenses would make them safe drivers and bring them out into the open so that they wouldn't have to run from accidents.

ANNAPOLIS, MD - In Annapolis Wednesday, Maryland lawmakers will consider legislation to keep illegal immigrants from getting drivers licenses.
The Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee will hear testimony on the legislation, which would require driver’s license applicants to produce documents proving legal status in the U.S.
The bill’s lead sponsor is Republican Senator Janet Greenip of Anne Arundel County.

Why do you think he left? Was he drunk? Or, had been drinking? Clearly, if he thought he was okay he wouldn't have left the scene.
FYI, many states now have their official website hosted at "www.nameofstate.gov". It's easy to remember, and helps to get information straight from the horse's mouth. Or other orifice, depending on your state.

As of today, eleven states, including Maryland, issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. Only a handful require that licenses for resident aliens expire at the same time as their visas.
Yet had a simple ban on issuing driver’s licenses to illegals or a requirement that the expiration date of the driver’s visa be printed on his driver’s license been in place, the trooper in this nightmare scenario would have been obliged to take stern measures against the soon-to-be bomber for driving on an expired license. He could have learned that both men were in the country illegally. And law enforcement would have taken a more careful look at the suspects. In all likelihood, they would have been caught and their plans foiled.

Immigration status is irrelevant to the MVA, which cannot deny a driver’s license based on a person’s legal status in this country. A bipartisan bill to prevent those residing illegally in the United States from obtaining a Maryland driver’s license failed to pass the House in the last session of the General Assembly

I don't know who "www.dmv.org" is, nor do I care. I've got a pretty good idea who "www.maryland.gov" is. Have you read what they have to say?
See Number 17. Read the links on number 17. Tell me how all that language about requiring valid immigration documents (you have read that, right?) doesn't weed out the illegal aliens.
