Interesting, but your conclusion is completely off base. Rush said Fred was the only conservative.

I couldn't vote for Mitt the flip-flopping Ken Doll even in the general. He is an artificial construct. Any one who is an experienced observer of people, listens carefully, and watches his body language when he cannot answer an unexpectedly tough question (like one about pro-life or gun control) can see that. I don't think he could fool Rush.

So tell us, who is a globo-RINO and by what measure?

Well, it could be. I certainly remember Howlin and Peach over many years here. I also vaguely remember several people saying they were leaving—voluntarily—but of course I don’t know what may have gone on behind the scenes.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t necessarily trust Wikipedia on political matters. They tend to get their final editing from a leftist perspective.

Membership in the CFR is a sufficient metric.

If a member doesn't know the purpose of the organization, who created it, and why, they're too stupid to be President. If he or she does know and belongs anyway, they're too dangerous to be President.

Fred Thompson is a member of the CFR.

My daughter is a nutty Ron Paul supporter. She says the same sort of things about the CFR.

Gee, Rush Limbaugh is a member, too. I guess all is lost. /sarc

Fred is stepping up. Saw him on TV today and he looked great.

Which conservative candidate did Rush endorse?

Ignorance is bliss.

Oh, boy. The old CFR bogeyman.

So CFR members are automatically disqualified from being considered conservatives?

Someone had better tell:

-William F. Buckley - Fooled us by all by founding the modern conservative movement. Motivations still unclear.;

-Newt Gingrich - Noted Marxist scholar and agitator;

-John Bolton - A "Blame America First" guy if ever there was one;

-Grover Nordquist - Closet socialist!

-Dick Cheney - The Manchurian Veep! HALIBURTON!

I went through my CFR period already-- read about it, took in all the inflated worry, etc. I even gave Ron Paul money several years ago (no war then). No Sale on the CFR.

On Mike Reagan's talk show the other night, I heard part of a Duncan Hunter interview. Mike asked him who he would vote for if he were not running. Huckabee (with a laugh)? Well Thompson, I think Fred Thompson is good on most issues Hunter said. (A paraphrase of the conversation.)

"-William F. Buckley - Fooled us by all by founding the modern conservative movement."

William F Buckley isn't my idea of a conservative. All his 'conservatives' happen to be Neo-con RINOs.

"Newt Gingrich - Noted Marxist scholar and agitator"

Maybe your memory is failing you? Shortly after being made speaker, he publicly endorsed "The Third Way" by noted socialists Heidi and Alvin Toffler. This is the "book to get" for socialist triangulation propaganda. And let's not forget his help to Loretta Sanchez, a liberal democrat, in defeating a real conservative, Bob Dornan.

Your idea of conservative seems to be whomever the Drive-by media say is one.

The politically aware GOP public has looked over all the candidates, and I’m thinking a lot of people are going to settle on Fred. Romney, Guliani, McCain and Huckabee all have strikes against them. Fred doesn’t have a big strike against him other than does he have the commitment to do what’s needed to win.

"What we need to do is send this Thread to David Limbaugh.
Maybe he will share it with his brother"

They both lurk here, and they have said that they donot discuss religion, nor politics together.

Considering how Mike has trashed Fred from day one, I'll bet that was fun to hear. Hunter supporters hear this?

BTW 22cal, I've hardly been on FR for years (biz and family) but I still remember (fondly) bantering with you. Hope all is well.

“Fred is not phony, he is just Fred, a lackluster politician with little ability to convincingly carry the banner of conservatism to those who need persuading most.”

Come on mission9, admit you are a MittBot already. I’m sure you didn’t even watch the latest speech, it is 98 mph right down the center of the plate.

“Mitt is spending a lot. I hope he studied the concept of Return on Investment in Grad school. It may come into play for him soon.”

At some point, money becomes obnoxious. That’s one reason I give Bloomie zero chance, and Mitt will suffer the same problem.

“David’s conclusions about Mitt are the same as my own, Mitt is electable.”

Mitt is unelectable because of the Mormon issue, it deletes 10% of his base off the top. Much less the flip flopping and liberal streak (with Romneycare in flames as we speak). Sorry to hurt your feelings.

I still to this day can't believe Republicans threw themselves off that cliff.

Not this one, I am not following them again or that Nutter Neal Boortz and the Fair Tax. I am a Conservative 1st and done with pulling the lever for RINO's. It's Fred or nothing.

Gotta drink the coolaid or be a ‘wack job?’

Your cerebral novacain level is showing. People like you are why we’re losing. Don’t ever try to think for yourself, you don’t have the equipment.
