I didn't think they were supposed to operate on the morbidly obese. Such patients here in the states (at least in CA) are required to get their weight down to a managable level first. At her weight I'm surprised the surgeon couuld even find her organs.

Wanna tell you a story
'Bout a woman I know
When it comes to lovin'
Oh she steals the show
She ain't exactly pretty
Ain't exactly small
Forty-two, thirty-nine, fifty-six
You could say she's got it all
Never had a woman
Never had a woman like you
Doing all the things
Doing all the things you do
Ain't no fairy story
Ain't no skin and bone
But you give it all you got
Weighing in at nineteen stone
CHORUS:
You're a whole lotta woman!
A whole lotta woman!
Whole lotta Rosie!
Whole lotta Rosie!
Whole lotta Rosie!
And you're a whole lotta woman.........
Second song I ever learned on rhythm guitar, after 'Free Bird'.

What a tragic story; even though some may deem her a pariah for her weight, I find her just as worthy of sympathy as some “beautiful” celebrity who overdoses on drugs. However, it does seem strange and VERY UNHEALTHY that she lost 56 pounds in 14 days. That should have been an immediate indicator that something went dreadfully wrong in this procedure.
God bless her in her life hereafter - certainly somewhere, she was beautiful to someone. Certainly she was beautiful to God...

operation hell... all she needed was to quit being fed a dozen burgers a day by her enable-ers

Why do people bring immobilized obese people food? I'm sure she was on government assistance, but could that cover the food bills to put on that much weight?
Did this lady have parents? Doesn't seem like anyone was looking out for her at any point in her life. Sad.

I used to have a neighbor who suffered from lymphedema, was not an overeater, and she was gigantic. Her calves had begun to touch the ground. She got a scratch on her leg that became infected and would not heal. She had also had a virus at the time of this infection. By the time she decided to go to the ER it was too late. She was dehydrated from the virus and went into cardiac arrest at the hospital. The day after she went in they took 25lbs of flesh off her thigh to try and halt the infection but as I said it was too late. She died a few days later.

Most people in this condition have genetic factors that make them that way. Hopefully, research will find a cure or treatment soon. And for the people who no sympathy, you should be thankful you don’t have the condition.
