Both the polls and the futures markets are in the same boat when they’re trying to gauge politics. So when one is more reliable than the other, that is significant. I see a lot of reliance upon undemocratic polls in an unconstitutional process that affects our republic. The first one hit in this election cycle was Hunter, a conservative, and we see a big yawn from the bastion of conservatism over a travesty to a conservative candidate.
On Poll Results and the End of Conservatism

I was posting Intrade results that made other candidates besides Hunter look good as a form of analysis. Huckabee ended up being the winner of debates using this analysis. No one seemed to make much of a deal about it until December 12th the same analysis spit out Hunter as the winner of the debate. Then, the invective came. Why is that, on a conservative website that invective is reserved for the most conservative candidate? And when conservatism takes a hit using unconstitutional processes, conservatives are silent.

Why the smart money is on Duncan Hunter

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

I'm thinking you mis-interpreted the poster's intent with their "Praise God" comment. When something happens, for which one has been hoping and praying, one could say "Praise God", as a form of thanking Him for seemingly answering a prayer. It may not necessarily mean that the person believes that God is choosing Thompson above all others to propel to victory, only that the poster is thankful that things turned out the way they did. Thompson propels himself, and as he has said before, asks God for guidance along the way.
I agree, my response was an overreaction due to an interpretation that may well have been invalid.
That's exactly it - which is why I place minimal stock (pun intended) in the polls, too.

I haven't seen much invective aimed at Hunter, per se. I disagree with him on some issues where I actually think he is liberal and/or nanny-statish (Fair Tax, protectionism, etc.), but those are POLICY DISAGREEMENTS, not invective. My observation seems to be that conservatives on here who aren't supporting Hunter aren't really that critical of Hunter himself, they're just tired of the nonsense being hurled around willy-nilly by some of Hunter's supporters. A person only needs to hear that they're a Commie-lib America-hating baby-killing globalist for supporting some candidate other than Hunter for so long, and they start to think that Hunter's supporters are just a bunch of kooks. Duncan Hunter's own supporters on FR have done more to damage the man's credibility on here than anything else.

***I have. And early on right after Thompson announced, I floated a suggestion to Team Fred that we could come to terms on how to engage with each other because of the incredibly rude and obnoxious invective coming from them. They declined. How has that worked out for Team Fred? The same thing you say about Hunter supporters is exactly what I see in the Huckabee vs. Thompson wrestling match. Interestingly, I see a lot of similar invective from Team Fred towards Team Huckabee. Since I’m not on Team Huckabee, how is it that I would see this?
Um, no. Apples and oranges, son. I’ve seen invective against Huckabee - but I’ve NOT seen it against Hunter, and the fact of the former does not imply the latter.
