In Larry Craig’s Corner, the A.C.L.U.
NY Times ^ | 16 January 2008 | Mike Nizza

The man who drew the attention of the St. Paul, Minn., police with his “wide stance” was the victim of a law that is “unconstitutionally overbroad,” the American Civil Liberties Union says. As Senator Larry Craig, Republican of Idaho, pushes to withdraw his guilty plea following his arrest in a public restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the rights group has strongly backed him in a brief filed with Minnesota Court of Appeals.

According to The Associated Press’s reading of the 12-page document, the A.C.L.U. argues that the police cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the senator was soliciting sex in the airport bathroom without violating privacy rights articulated in a 1970 Minnesota Supreme Court opinion.

I believe, in this case, the ACLU is “in his stall”.

I put Senator Wide-Stance in the same category as I do the Clintons: people who I wish would just go away, but aren’t.

That the GOP tolerates this pathetic closet queer is aggravating.

So if private sex in a public bathroom is okay, how about other public places? The park? an arena during a concert?

He didn’t engage in sex though. Maybe he was going to go rent a hotel room. Merely propositioning someone should not be a crime. Else a lot of fern-bar patrons are going to go to jail.

But he says he’s not Gay. His voice goes up an octave everytime he says it. But he’s not Gay.

Right, but look what the ACLU is saying...

http://www.charlotte.com/nation/story/447927.html

“In an effort to help Sen. Larry Craig, the American Civil Liberties Union is arguing that people who have sex in public bathrooms have an expectation of privacy.”

Really?!?!?

Senator Craig needs to quit stalling and leave the US Senate.

You’re right. A proposition (not involving money or a minor) is perfectly legal.

Where my problem with Craig comes is that he’s one of those Congressmen who think gay marriage is the most horrible thing in the world and a threat to the sanctity of marriage. Yet, his own actions are the biggest threat to his marriage, not gays.

Same with my Senator, David Vitter. He was quoted as saying gay marriage is the most important issue of our time.

Now, I’m not a gay marriage proponent, but I can easily list 8-10 things that are much more important to our country right now. And Vitter’s another one. Gay marriage wasn’t a threat to his marriage, but rather, his own infidelity.

So if private sex in a public bathroom is okay

In Craig's case, exactly what "sex" are you talking about?

I wasn’t referring to Craig’s case, just that the ACLU made a statement that private sex in a public place is okay.

Read the first paragraph.
