Sen. John McCain won Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, AP projects.

Fox News and NBC News exit polls ranked the economy as the top concern among South Carolina primary voters, followed by illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, and terrorism.

Columnist and Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol commenting on Saturday's results on the Fox News Channel said that the Republican field is now winnowing down to just three viable candidates: McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani.

McCain has been competitive against her or ahead of her for the entire campaign season. Check the data at realclearpolitics if you like.

And the propaganda continues....and the sheep will continue to be lead to their slaughter.

So McCain isn't Duncan Hunter, or even FRed. But that he's being painted as some kind of liberal Democrat shows just how wacked out some folks here are

You McCainiacs are your own worse enemies. Your habitual arrogant nastiness does not win your boy any votes. It has quite the opposed effect. That really stupid tactics considering your boy needs our votes if he is to have ANY hope of winning.

So want to try a sober rational response for change? Or is punk bitchiness all you are capable of? Care to try an refute factually and rationally the below?

No Conservative should ever consider voting for McCain. We worry the others will betray us. We know McCain will betray us. Look at his record for the last 8 years? Been nothing but betrayal and obstruction.

With any of the other candidates we have a seat at the table. We know John McCain will never listen to us on anything.

With McCain Conservatives would get maybe 10%. That would not be worth the enormous long term damage McCain would do to both the GOP and the Conservative Movement. With a McCain Administration we would have a mislabeled “Conservative” Administration pushing Democrat Party polices while the GOP took all the political fall out of the consequences of those disastrous decisions.

Just what could Conservatives expect to get from a McCain Administration? Based on McCain’s record for the last 8 years, we could expect to get tough talk on foreign policy and spending with no real action on any issue.

Do people forget the Democrats trying to get McCain to flip party’s in Jan 2006? Forget that Dems wanted McCain as their VP candidate in 2004?

How quickly the supposed Conservatives for McCain forget McCain’s political record. From Tax-cuts to the War to Judges McCain’s whole strategy has been to be as Liberal as possible and stay in the GOP.

Politically there is very little difference between Hillary and McCain. You get minor variations on this and that issue, like abortion, but over all McCain and Clinton share the same political philosophical outlook

McCain has done nothing for the Conservative movement in 8 years. While talking a good game on spending, he has done nothing. This is particularly galling considering all the issues CFR, Judges, Immigration Anti Torture Amendment-Gang of 14 etc etc etc issues which McCain was more then willing to throw his weight behind an issues to get legislation passed.

McCain has actively worked against the Conservatives on Social issues, on the WOT, on Iraq, on Gitmo, against Rummy, on Immigration and on Judges, on Global Warming etc etc etc etc etc. McCain has far more in common with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama then he does with any Conservative.

Funny how the Talking Heads miss this. Out of 49 Republican Senators McCain has been ranked 45th by the American Conservative Union for his voting record!

McCain would be the worse of both worlds. A mislabeled “Conservative” Administration actively advancing the Democrat Party’s agenda while knifing Conservatives in the back daily. You could even count on a McCain Administration appointing Leftist Judges in order to avoid fighting with the Democrats in the US Senate.

Tough on Foreign Policy? You think Mr “Close Gitmo and extend the same legal protections US Citizens have to the terrorists” McCain is going to have a “tough” foreign policy? The father of the Baker Commission and the plan to surrender Iraq to Iran and Syria is “strong on Foreign Policy”? Not based on his recored. The wrost thing that a McCain Administration would do is it would fracture the few remaining GOP Congress critters into pro and anti McCain factions. McCain would be the worst of all world politically for the Conservatives.

At least with a Democrat Leftist Administration, as opposed to a McCain Leftist with a GOP Label Administration, the Democrats would get all the political fall out of their disastrous political decisions and the GOP would unite in fighting them. The worst of all possible worlds for Conservatives in 2008 would be McCain getting elected President.

Good point. Scary that the GOP Party is so fractured that they can’t vote for a Conservative like Fred who can easily beat a candidate like Hillary who a) everyone hates and b)whose only claim to fame is being asleep in the Lincoln bedroom while her husband used an intern’s private parts as a humidor for his cigar.

Nominate any conservative and he/she will cream Hillary. No. They have to nominate a RINO who will lose 48 states. Jackasses. Damn, people are stupid.

And they voted for McCain?

Hear, hear!

Here are our choices. We can pick one person from column A, OR...one person from columnn B.

Column A
McCain
Romney
Huckabee
Thompson

Column B
Clinton
Obama
Edwards

This is the reality of the situation, like it or not. Clear away all the crap about who is a “true conservative” and who said what to whom last week or last month or 5 or 10 or 20 years ago, and who didn’t agree with you on your particular pet issue, and the reality is still the same. It’s either someone from Column A or someone from Column B. I pick someone from Column A. I’ll vote for the Republican nominee. Since the Republican race is usually pretty much over by the time NC has its primary, there’s not a lot of pressure on me, but if by some miracle we can actually make a difference, I’ll vote for the person from Column A whom I think stands the best chance of beating anyone from Column B in the general election.

‘Good grief, I don’t know, it may be to late to stop Huck and McCain.”

I don’t think so. I think Giuliani’s efforts with early absentee voting in Florida are going to pay off for him. I’m a Romney supporter, but if Romney can’t, I really do hope that Giuliani takes all of the Florida’s delegates because besides Romney, he’s the only candidate who can stop Huckabee and McCain. I’d vote for Giuliani in the general election (if I have to), but I refuse to vote for either Huckabee or McCain. That’s just the way it is—even if it means a Democrat president.

But seeing him back out and endorse Romney would look pretty good in my eyes...

In a clown nightmare.
Hillary will beat Mitt with the greatest of ease. - He cannot even deliver his own state.

Rudy is ahead here and I do believe that Rudy will take Florida.

The audacity of any McQueeg supporter to even mention judges is mind-blowing.

Nice speech McCain made. He actually sounded like a conservative. Too bad the record of the last 7 years doesn’t back up the rhetoric.

How can he claim to be for less government when he pushes legislation that will restrict free speech?? Unreal.

It's kind of like you have a homosexual cousin, and at the family reunion, he decides to strip down to a jock strap, jump on a picnic table, and regale the family with his version of some Streisand standard. In other words, over the top.

Sorry about that cuz. I thought our uncle liked my rendition of "Memories". I'll plead the 21st Amendment. I was drunk at the time. BTW, I'm not gay, I like breasts and vagina just fine.

So McCain isn't Duncan Hunter, or even FRed. But that he's being painted as some kind of liberal Democrat shows just how wacked out some folks here are.

I'm starting to think that maybe we/me really are the kook fringe right wing base. Maybe the masses are right. They have no clue whether they are for limited government or big government. They just decide based on some sound bites and what happened last week. Only "kooks" like me don't need Gubmint. Sane people need cradle to grave Gubmint.

McCain/Kennedy
McCain/Fiengold

There is a reason his name is connected by his bills with the most sleazy notorious scumbags in the democrat party and it isn’t because he is way above any Democrat.

Ever Democrats on the networks tonight admit McCain would be the hardest Republican for Ms. Clinton to beat (Romney or Huckabee the easiest).

Well, gooollly. If the Democrats we should do that to beat em, what's not to trust? Good gawd, do you realize how asinine that sounds?

Exactly. Which is why I will not vote for either of them.

I would prefer to both know my enemy, and he not be us, if you get my meaning.

They want us to ignore his liberal/socialist record and it’s not going to happen. For as long as I can remember Queeg’s been working to restrict constitutional rights like the 1st and 2nd Amendments while trying to give more of them to invading lawbreakers. He reminds me of the Manchurian Candidate.

Don’t make perfect the enemy of good. I personally am sick of people’s “take their marbles and go home” shitty attitude. Get over yourselves, or run for office if you don’t like what’s out there.

Do you honestly think the "bipartisan" Senator McCain, leader of the Gang of 14, will appoint constructionist judges? Please. Not a chance in hell. Take your stupid naivete and go work for the Peace Corps.

IIRC (and I watched only Fox’s coverage), McCain scored the best with voters who believe national security is the top issue, and with veterans and seniors, and did better than the pundits expected among evangelicals.
