Mike Huckabee: McCain-lover, Mitt-killer

Mike Huckabee: McCain-lover, Mitt-killer

COLUMBIA, S.C.—For people reading between the lines, Mike Huckabee’s concession speech here Saturday night dropped some enticing hints that his presidential campaign now has an agenda other than getting elected president.

Huckabee’s new role: Mitt-killer.

The former Arkansas governor threw air kisses on primary night to winner John McCain, praising him for “running a civil and a good and a decent campaign.”

Huckabee did not mention Romney in his concession statement Saturday. But Huckabee and his aides have barely disguised their disdain for Romney, whose chameleon-like stance on issues and free-spending negative ad campaign have made him the most unpopular candidate among his GOP rivals.

Could Huckabee be angling for the number-two spot on McCain’s ticket, or a cabinet position in a McCain administration?

Now that the race is headed to a critical showdown in Florida, Huckabee is well-positioned to play the same spoiler role that Thompson did in South Carolina. Only registered Republicans can participate in Florida—no independents, who gave McCain a boost in New Hampshire and South Carolinia. These rules give more leverage to social conservatives, who are unlikely to back Rudy Giuliani under any circumstances but might be enticed into backing Romney if they had no Huckabee alternative.

“In Florida, McCain is desperate to keep conservative Republicans from coalescing around another candidate, and the best way to prevent it is to have the GOP vote fractured,” said University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato. “Huckabee knows that by keeping his candidacy alive, he’s potentially helping McCain win another split plurality vote. McCain knows it, too. Gratitude will follow—but whether that includes the vice presidency is anybody’s guess.”

There seems to be reason to think that both Thompson and Huckabee would try to line up behind McCain for president. In my opinion, that will put a Democrat in the White House.

Well it would be good if he could ruin Mitts chances. Of course he would also need to ruin McCains chances to be truly effective.

I hope both McCain & Huckabee soon go down in flames - will Rudy following behind - would be the best thing that could happen to the GOP.

I guess leaving the Arkansas GOP in shambles isn’t good enough for the opportunistic Huck.

He’s a Fred killer, Mitt killer and a traitorus little McCain tag on.

McCain hates religion and probably would like to “dress up” his campaign with some old fashioned religion to court those evangelical voters.

I hope they get smart enough to know VP ain’t no big deal, especially with a guy like McCain.

I don’t see how McCain will help himself with conservatives by addind Huckabee as VP.

And from the Rasmussen poll this morning, the “moderate” votes (RINO votes) seem to be splitting between McCain and Guiliani.

It is also closed primary in Florida, meaning only REGISTERED REPUBLICANS can vote, so no indy’s, no dems.

Face it, When Huckabee lost South Carolina, it showed that not all “Evangelical voters” like Mike, and that Mike Huckabee’s “one trick pony” theme of carrying the South because most of the South is Southern Baptist is not going to work for him.

I suspect that Huckabee’s campaign is now on the skids.

The sad state of Huckabee's campaign is seen on his supporters faces.

Who are these drones McCain, Huckabee, and we know the Queen bee Hillery!

It is a gut feeling of how to hoodwink the the solid American with all this dancing going on something for everyone.

So many voices beckoning over here, no over here etc.

It reminds me of Matt 24 3- 28

3 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

It is the same in politics one must have vision and discern the out come that stands before us!

You could save a lot of typing by applying for a rumor number. The runor that Fred's a 'stalking horse' for Mccain is rumor #1137. That would make Huckabee being a front for McCain rumoor #1138. Next time you post this you can just type: "1137 & 1138".

It is interesting to see Suckabee complimenting McCain on a clean campaign. Of course, Suckabee hasn’t run a clean campaign himself...

My gut feeling is, if Thompson’s dropping out before Feb. 5th, to be fair to all candidates left, he will NOT endorse anyone til Feb. 6th...This will give him “cover” from accusations that he attempted to influence the important Florida primary outcome. I just can’t see the Honorable Thompson doing that.

Prayers up for Fred’s mom, and we all know that Fred is the kind of guy that knows family comes first! That is why Fred is with his mom at the hospital. Fred is STILL in the race and he does have the support to carry on! In 12 hours from(9:00PM 1/20 to 9:00AM 1/21) the red truck has earned #2,790. That is $232.50 per hour from nine last night with the Giant/GreenBay game in overtime through the night until nine this morning. Not bad, but I know there would have been more donated if everyone was SURE Fred was staying the course! Also the link to the truck is not easily found and that may have kept more funds from coming in. Lets put more in the truck! We can make it 1.5 mil by midnight tonight! Go to the link below and help any way you can! GO FRED!

And that’s precisely why Fred is still in this- to kill Huck and push Romney. That’s why Huck is praying Fred drops out.

If that is McCain’s logic, then he is brain dead. Florida is his chance of putting this election away. Huckabee is preventing him from doing that.

I might also add that I’ve sworn there are only two candidates who would make me leave the GOP: McCain and Huckabee. Put both of them on the ticket, and it’s a no-brainer.
