Final Letter To The President (Vanity)

Sir,

On the eve of your final State Of Union address, I feel it is appropriate to write you and say thank you for your steadfast leadership, courage of conviction and resilience in facing the challenges of our time. My generation owes you a debt that simply cannot be repaid, and our posterity owes you the many lives that your bold initiatives and actions have saved.

On September 11th 2001, you held the light of Liberty for the world to see and you declared that we would not idly stand by and allow our great nation to become a statistic of the impending tsunami of radical Islamic Terrorism, your actions ensured that the wave broke on our shores like the ripple caused by a stone dropped in a still lake.

Will our future leaders have the foresight and wisdom to remain on the offensive against the threat? That is truly the audacity of my hope and I am saddened that I even have to ask that question. However, politics as it is in our nation have minimalized the sacrifice of so many of our bravest, many of your political opponents have labeled your incursion into Iraq as a mistake, but I fear those are the ones that did not learn the lesson that nearly 3000 died on 9/11 to teach us. That lesson being that we can no longer fail to imagine the threat before it materializes.

We were caught sleeping once but we awakened with great resolve to ensure that nothing like that would happen again. America and the world are a safer place with the removal of Saddam Hussein and the defeat of Al-Qaida. Iraqi's and Afghani's rejoice in new found freedom and serve to foster good will and hope in the Middle East.

If this election is about hope and change, then that change which has been accomplished in the Middle East is truly awe inspiring and the hope that your policies have given to millions of oppressed people in this world is unparalleled.

Your bold actions that have stemmed the tide of radical Islamic Terror have been harshly criticized by your political opponents and in some cases your political opposition appears to have created a diabolical alliance where their strategy and position would directly help the enemies that our bravest were engaged with in day to day life and death struggles.

Are some Americans so afraid of those that would murder our sons and daughters that we would surrender and retreat in defeat? That is not the America that I know.

In history there are few Presidents that have had as much heaped on their plate and still managed to handle it all as you, in my opinion, your actions regarding the economy sustained this country from another Great Depression, you dealt with inherited recession, Dot com bubble bursting, Major Corporation Bankruptcy, the greatest terrorist attack this nation has every witnessed and the worst natural disaster in modern times, fighting a war with many fronts simultaneously and yet the unemployment rate remains low, the stock market remains high, inflation is manageable, and yet many in your own political party chastise you for having a budget deficit, it amazes me sometimes how people lose context on particular issues and fail to see the forest through the trees and I am quite sure that you critique yourself harshly, and wish that you had done even more like a marathon runner who regrets seeing the finish line.

Will the next President demand that Americans feel the true cost of war and financial struggle, with tax increase or rationing?

Would a future President change those things that you have implemented to keep America safe only to find that our enemy has a sudden resurgence and more American citizens will die?

Just under one year remains and we will have a new President may God grant them the same courage and wisdom that he graced you with. Please always remember as Theodore Roosevelt appropriately said "It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."

For you Sir, are the doer of deeds, You are the man in the Arena and you have spent yourself for the most worthy of all causes, Our Freedom, and that debt is one that cannot be repaid. Thank You and God bless you.

It wasn’t all Bush 43 my friend.. Reagan started Amnesty.. Bush 41 did nothing to fix the problem... 8 years of Clinton out of control illegals.. I guess you missed the part about how much Bush 43 has on his plate...

He certainly seemed to have enough time and energy to advocate amnesty. If he put the same effort into actually closing the borders and penalizing businesses who hire illegals, we'd be in much better shape.

Reagan signed the amnesty which included employer sanctions. Had we been enforcing the 1986 law (and existing laws) we wouldn't be on the verge of literally losing CA to Mexico by mere force of numbers.

No question, the amnesty was among the top of his failings.

I couldn’t have said it better. However I would like to add that President Bush not only accomplished everything he promised, he did it while fighting a cadre of shadow warriors within our own govt., who fought tooth and nail to undermind every move the President made to secure the country and the economy. These expatriots worked within the democrat party, the media, the State Dept. and even the CIA, to bring this President down. And I’m ashamed to say that he had very little help fighting these SOB’s from our neutered Republican Congress. Unless we get some new faces in Washington soon, our party is doomed to minority status.

Yes I said he had a lot on his plate but also remember that he never campaigned in 00 or 04 that he would build the border wall he always wanted some sort of Amnesty, most Conservatives knew that, and were not blind sided by his position on it however, the Democrats drove it like a wedge to depress turnout in 06 thats why it got front and center but that said this Illegal issue is not Bush’s to fix it belongs to whoever the next President is so for all those on this board that whine about Bush didn’t do enough the bottom line is he didn’t do anything good or bad his proposals were shot down so that means that they of all people should be fighting for the Conservative that is putting border security first...

Start hammering the up and comings regarding this issue and leave Bush 43 alone about it.

Amen, and by the looks of it.. judging simply from the numbers of Democrats voting vs. the number of Republicans voting in the primaries and caucus’, the Democrat candidate is going to landslide this 08 election. Their play remains to keep the Republican base depressed on turn out and that seems to be working quite well.

Not a single Demrat has been made to answer on their Iraq stance, their GWOT stance... They need to be asked do they believe that the threat from Islamic Jihad is existential for the U.S. or not. They need to be asked what their response will be to another terror attack.. They need to be asked what their strategic goals for the ME are and how they intend to see them through... They need stated positions on Iran, North Korea, Syria, Pakistan, Venezulea, Cuba, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Indonesia, China and Russia.

Thanks for this fine letter. I love what President Bush has done for this country.

One other point, the Republicans will win the Presidency in November [and it's not any of the men that the POLLSTERS have picked as the winner and 2nd runner up in Florida...the man who actually wins Florida will be the 44th President].

Granted Reagan started amnesty, but he operated (foolishly) under the impression that the problem would be fixed, never realizing that only an idiot trusts Teddy Kennedy. Bush 41 and Clinton did nothing but under Bush 43 it's reached a floodtide. If W weren't a leftist, he'd put his money where his mouth is and open his own little Matamoros at his "Prairie Chapel Ranch" in Crawdad. But as a good leftist, he does like Teddy Kennedy and expects the public to pay for the social programs he personally cherishes.

While all of the Left and most Americans have forgotten the heinous sting of 9/11, President Bush has not. And I, too, thank him for that.

Yup, saved us from bin Laden and now sold our economy to the Chicoms and our society to the globaloniests.
