If that’s not an endorsement (unintended, to be sure) of Romney, I don’t know what is.
That’s the best pro-Romney statement Bush could have possibly made.
Bush is out to lunch when it comes to immigration.
Dubya shouldn't be too concerned. Stick around a bit and ole Multiple Choice Mitt will change his position several times. |
Will conservatives who love this country and want to preserve it wake up too late to save it?
Wow! Bush just gave Romney a forward push, albeit likely unintentional. I am no great fan of Romney, but I much prefer him to McInsane.

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:
In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. Another stupid comment from this out of touch who has split the GOP. Thanks Jorge.
Who knew Jorge would do some much damage to the GOP.
Important principles may and must be inflexible. — Abraham Lincoln
Including POSITIONS on those principles, Mitt.
Thank you, Mr. President, for reminding people of why we should avoid McCain like the plague and support Romney.
This is reason enough to vote for Romney, imho.
This might explain President Bush’s surprise announcement that he’s attending CPAC next week, along with the surprising information that McCain is also attending.
If bush doesn’t like Mitt’s stance then it’s all the more reason to vote for Mitt! Thanks JORGE for pointing that out!
