Mike Huckabee says he will not step aside, no matter how much pressure he faces to let John McCain and Mitt Romney duke it out in a two-man race.
The former Arkansas governor is concentrating hard on the southern states, looking to pick up delegates and stay competitive beyond Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Though hes steadily lost the wind from his sails following his win in the lead-off Iowa caucuses Jan. 3, Huckabee wants to be more than just a spoiler.
Huckabee said Saturday in Alabama that he wont take the bait from anybody calling for him to bow out.
Some of the other candidates - in fact, Mitt Romney has been saying the last few days, sending out people who say it on TV, Mike Huckabee should get out of this race, Huckabee said in Huntsville. Let me explain something to Mr. Romney and his supporters who have said that. It aint the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog.

Good
*crickets*
Whatever it takes to snag a VP offer from your good buck McCain, right Huck?
I suspect that he doesn’t want to kill the golden goose. He’s still taking in too many dollars in contributions to walk away from it all.
Huckabee needs to stay in the race. We need him to win in Alabama, Georgia, and Missouri. Romney fans should think about helping the Huckster out where he needs it to keep those southern state winner take alls out of McCain’s column.
He ain’t getting that much money, aren’t all his staff not being paid right now?
We need all three of them in this race. Gotta keep things split. Why attack McCain? Huckabee isn’t going to win McCain voters.
Gov. Mike Huckabee Thursday denounced a bill by Sen. Jim Holt that would deny state benefits to illegal immigrants as un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life.
Even if benefits to people who are in the U.S illegally could be stopped, I dont understand how a practicing Christian can turn his back on a child from this or any other state, Huckabee said.
I do not agree with it...but there it is.
Romney is just going to have to win large percentages of the vote on his own (which any candidate should hope to do anyhow), like he is doing tonight in Maine, if he has any hope of defeating McCain. It is a VERY large mountain to climb, particularly with all of the big name endorsements McCain is getting...but Romney is getting a lot of endorsements too and I personally believe it is possible, and hope that he pulls it off.
He’s such a petty, little man; a shyster, a Huckster, a phony. Why can’t his supporters see that?
Suckabee is just what this moniker says he is—an a**hole!! Watch his and Ghouliani’s throwing in with Johnny Mac backfire on Tuesday! It will be the biggest shocker of the Century!
He *could*, actually. But he hasn’t said one thing against McCain the entire campaign. All he’s chosen to do is go after Fred and now Mitt. Be ready for McCain/Huckabee.
He’s as big a scumbag as Clinton.
What a sorry excuse for a Republican. I suspect he’s a closet bigot against Mormons.
What a damn hypocrite.
Money. The man doesn’t have a job. McCain will forget him after he has the nomination. Huck will end up being a FOX, CNN, or MSNBC talking head. In the meantime, the country is headed for a collaspe.
A man of God, I’ve my doubts.
No way will Romney folks go for Huck to stop McCain. Besides, if McCain is short of delegates, which he will be, Huck will step aside and shift his delegates to John. Watch. That is the only way McCain can outright beat Romney- Huck staying in the race.
He’s an idiot. McCain will leave him at the altar like a jilted lover.
Why? Because we gotta keep things split.
