Regarding McCain, we will have some serious Freeping to do to keep him on the right track. It can be done.

I will not leave a gaping hole in this country for the Islamonazis to stroll in.

Thank you for your reasonable stance, and not being childish drama queen like those that dominate this thread. I'm not sure he can be put back on track, be he sure isnt Obama or Hillary. Im with you on this issue.

Same as for Bush: hold your nose and vote for the Republican candidate

I hope that you are right. I hope Romney does win.
However, in the case that McCain pulls it out, I will protect my family and my property form Hillary at all costs.

Not enough difference. If McCain wins, you guys will be pleading and chiding us not to go after McCain when he starts pushing his liberal agenda because he’s one of us and you don’t take down one of your own, especially the ‘leader’ of the party....

Nope.

"If it is a choice between Hillary Clinton, and John McCain, a vote for anyone other than John McCain IS A VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON.

I don’t care how much you dislike John McCain, you can’t possibly think, under any circumstaces, that Hillary Clinton would be better.

Bingo... it needed to be repeated.

"If Hillary is the Nominee and you do not do your duty to prevent her from taking office, then you are a traitor."

What McCain did with CFR is a direct assault on our Constitution. For that one action alone, McCain will NEVER get my vote. Of course the list of McCain's anti-Liberty positions are endless -- insane believe in AGW, closing GITMO, against waterboarding, insulting the "profits" of capitalism. The list is literally endless. He would consult Teddy for S.C. nominees. McCain has the type of vengeful personality that will compel him to go after conservatives. I will not betray our beloved Republic and vote for such a vile man. If our Republic is to be handed over to the Socialists, let it be the Rat socialist and not the Rep Socialist, McCain.

“It seems to this reader that your loyalties lie with Party rather than the Republic.”

Sir, you are out of line. If your loyalties were truly with the Republic. You would not allow Hillary into office, knowing full well that she will turn our republic into a tyrannical socialist nanny state.

Don’t lecture me about the republic.

Because you’re interested in who succeeds McCain when he dies in office. But you’re assuming that something like that would occur.

I have resigned from the Republican party.

I doubt he’d serve a second term. A young, conservative VP would have the incumbency tailwind, giving eight more years. Long enough for Hillary’s facelift factory to be ineffective.

For what it’s worth, I was never a Romney supporter. I voted for him today simply because he was barely palatable.

I am a conservative.

I was a Republican. The party left me evidently, having been hijacked by the Schwarzenegger/McCain/Giuliani wing.

Since the party leadership is mostly interested in being Democrat-lite, I say we start our own. I’m not sure the Republican party can be saved, with such powerful RINOs in charge.

We need to get back to basic principles, and argue for limited government. We need to get that message out. It’s a message of freedom, one that resonates. Talking about economic policy is a waste of time, especially when you don’t understand basic principles.

Talk about Freedom: The freedom to choose how to live your life, free of government oppression. The freedom to go as high, or as low as you want to. That’s your choice in a Free Society. The freedom to worship how you wish. The freedom to defend yourself with a firearm. The freedom to spend your hard earned money how you see fit.

This is what made our country great!

Not handouts, not free education, not free healthcare. That’s what folks on the socialist end of the spectrum would like you to buy into. And what sadly resonates with today’s uneducated voters.

If Republican politicians actually believed all of these things that made our country great (or even understood them), we would win elections. Instead, we discuss things like Departments of Homeland Security, Tax Cuts, and balanced budgets (which the voters have seen we’re terrible at anyway, so why not just vote in some liberals who will at least give us some ‘free’ loot at the same time!).

We need a new third party. Not a dime from my pockets to the RNC from now on.

I was an early adopter of the “No pain - no McCain” club. I decline to waste my vote, my time, or my money on that worthless POS...

I would wish we could find dems (and repubs) that understood how business and government and taxes worked like Kennedy. Hell I wish there were more dems and repubs like Zell Miller - the guy who gave the best damn speech at the 04 gop convention...

Agreed.  California used to have the "Communist Party" on our ballots...they have been off the ballots for few years...now I know why...they have found suitable replacements in the Democrat and Green parties!
