Dallas hospital room where JFK died now stored in Kansas

Odd move closes artifacts to public, may add to mystery

By David Flick

A piece of JFK assassination history now lies buried in the most unlikely of places: a former limestone quarry in Kansas.

It is the end – at least for now – in the long and sometimes strange journey of Parkland Memorial Hospital Trauma Room No. 1, where President John F. Kennedy died on Nov. 22, 1963.

The entire room was purchased by the federal government 35 years ago, when Parkland officials decided to modernize their emergency facilities.

Story also says: "Under the sale agreement between Parkland and the federal government, archives officials agreed to close the trauma room and its contents to the public, saying that they wanted to shield the pieces from exploitation."

Gadzooks, you cannot make this stuff up!

Have any miracles been ascribed to JFK?

No? Then why are items that were in the room where he died being treated like class II relics?

Anyone who has ever watched the Zapruder’s film of the assassination knows JFK was dead from the moment his skull exploded.

I find it bizarre that this operating room has been swept away to be hidden from sight to save the Kennedy Family from pain.

Now, if they could place Ted in with the room... I'd go for that and maybe donate a buck or two to keep all hidden!

You are deriding Camelot you know.

Besides if your brains were blown out, all over the back of the car, and you didn't die until you were in the hospital that would be a miracle.

Yes, it’s odd - even sinister - that an article would say he died there, whereas he actually died live on 9mm.

All they’re doing is federally enshrining the room where JFK’s brain was removed - and subsequently lost - before forensics could catch up with it.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zapruder_film:

"The film is recorded on Kodak Kodachrome II 8 mm movie safety film (double 8mm, 16mm width)."

Oh, totally agree. Seen that film many times. Though I just said it was 9mm (oops).

I think I’ll take a pickax and wheelbarrow, go chop out some asphalt from the street in front of the old Texas Book Depository, and sell it on Ebay. Should be worth millions.

Re: Thank you!

Hummmmm? Are you just now learning what the Zapruder film showed?

Or... are you just happy to see me?

I'll take LBJ paying Colonel Mustard to do it in the library with the lead pipe!

He just looks... guilty!

I hazard a guess that you are being thanked because the Zapruder film is generally - and absurdly - treated with kid-gloves on FR.

A President is shot from the wrong direction. This is caught on film. And everyone’s too embarrassed to talk about it because they don’t want to sound like a credulous conspiracy theorist. So thank you for breaking Omerta.

Re: A President is shot from the wrong direction.

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been a hunter since knee high to my old Grapndpappy and in my life have seen a few head wounds. All that I can recall had a nice round hole in the side the bullet entered and a large hole on the other side where it exited.

I always wonder why no one ever brings this up?

Maybe on a gurney, in some hospital room recently moved to a limestone quarry in Kansas?

So the room was still used for 15 years after JFK. I doubt it was preserved in pristine condition. Odd.
