Who says Rush and Sean don’t matter?

I suppose they matter a great deal to ignorant folks who cannot form their own opinions.

what do you imagine would have been “sweeter” then the offer refused?

Kerry could have offered him a couple of uninterrupted nights in the Lincoln bedroom with Theresa (and the trapeze).

“If McCain said yes he would expand the role of vice president to include secretary of Defense and the overall control of foreign policy. McCain exclaimed, ‘You’re out of your mind. I don’t even know if it’s constitutional, and it certainly wouldn’t sell.’”

OK, who else calls BS on this? John McCain worried about the constitutionality of something? And Kerry even offering it?

Reports I've heard this week is that Kerry said McCain's people originally approached his people, not the other way round. Of course they're all pols so who's to say what the truth is. I also wouldn't trust Evan Thomas as far as I could throw him.

I have been wondering when a reporter will try and goad McCain into an argument and get him to pop off in public.

Not until after he has the nomination clinched....

It’s the opponents of conservatives and the talk radio hosts that espouse them who mad this about Rush, Sean, Mark Levin, etc., not those hosts.

People have been seeking to destroy the influence of talk radio - the “public square” for millions of conservative Americans - for almost two decades now.

The same people who are taking McCain’s rise as evidence of “the fall of talk radio” would be the FIRST to trumpet, loudly, the final defeat of the conservatives if any of the hosts I mentioned turned their backs on their principles and became shills for the Republican RINOs. They would lose all credibility, and rightly so. Surely these critics don’t believe any of these hosts would be stupid enough to take the bait?

No, Rush, Sean, etc. don’t matter. No individual person does. But the PRINCIPLES being espoused do, notwithstanding what this “finger to the wind” person says.

These hosts have stuck to their principles. A Republican Party that abandons conservatism has not, and will be the “loser” no matter what the election results say in November.

Conservative policies work best for America. So remind me why we should chuck them aside again?

I cannot WAIT to see McCain try to use
the fake Reagan video intro and get
booed out of the place. He’s delusional.

Rush should be speaking there.

So to summarize, Kerry offered McCain the VP, Secretary of State, AND Secretary of Defense roles. And McCain strongly campaigned for Bush instead. Just curious, what do you imagine would have been “sweeter” then the offer refused?

McCain is corrupt and crazy, but he's no where near as stupid as Kerry.

McCain knows his military experience, especially as a torture victim, has always been his principal political draw. Give him credit for being smart enough to weigh that against the clearly expressed anti-military mind set of the Rats at that time in history.

Yes, they loved him as a victim who undermined the military's ability to get information, but they sure never would have loved a guy who wanted MORE troops to intensify the WAR. They especially didn't want anybody who wanted to WIN the war. (I do give McCain credit for that!)

Never mind the "unity ticket" BS--that would have resulted in the left rejecting McCain and the right rejecting Kerry. Think McGovernesque loss. I think McCain was smart enough to realize that and he wouldn't want to hand Bush another victory against himself, this one excruciatingly humiliating by being a landslide.

Why wouldn't Kerry be smart enough to realize the same thing? Remember Kerry picked a mate who couldn't run for reelection to the Senate because he knew he'd be trashed by his home state (which he was unable to carry in the general).

This fag is on a show with a rating of .3 = 300,000 viewers, both Rush and Sean draw more than that in the first fifteen minutes on Monday.

He is the one that doesn't count.

What makes you think McCain would appoint a true conservative to the USSC? I have no faith that he would.

LOL! I don't consider myself ignorant and enjoy listening to both. Also, they have helped explain conservative principles to folks who have received little education on the concepts from other sources.

You are correct, and remember, McCain spoke with the press for weeks while flirting and mulling over this VP offer, as usual, he did not keep it private. Just to make our CIC, and Republicans sweat, and to garner more good press.

He spent the entire time, during wars in two theaters PUBLICLY chastising the President, VP, and the DOD. For the world and our enemies to hear.

When McCain told his friend David Letterman that our troops lives were wasted (for an applause line), he ceased being a credible candidate for President or a even a decent American and US Senator.

I cannot see Hannity or Rush getting behind McCain. If they do, it would be the end of talk radio for me.

Yeah, geez, if I had known this was going to happen I would have supported Frist's abortive run for the roses. At least I *like* him, though I never thought he would be a good candidate.
