The Wrong Card (Barkley Disses Sharpton, Jackson)
NY Post Page Six ^ | 2-07-08

HOOPS legend Charles Barkley says he definitely plans to run for governor of Alabama, but wants no campaign help from rabble-rousers like Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

"I don't believe in them. They always play the race card, and you can't always play the race card," the former Houston Rockets power forward tells next month's Playboy.

*snip*

We have to hold blacks more accountable for their actions."

Good for Sir Charles. (Wonder when those "sometimes" are he also notes when the race card is needed.)

Sounds like he’s getting on the Bill Cosby bandwagon. If and when he is able to get Alabama cleaned up Detroit is waiting and needs to be next on the list of cleanup candidates.

Well, Charles was a Republican, but he switched to Democrat a couple of years ago.

I wonder if he’s back? He’s been talking about running for Gov. since he was at Auburn.

I’m not sure if he knows the difference in the parties.

I seem to remember him using the race card or something last year or so

For that matter, I’m not sure I know the difference between the parties, either.

I’m on dial up and couldn’t get the link to open.

Did he say if he’d run as a D or R?

So far my observation of Sir Charles is that he is a relentless self-promoter who has some ability to pretend to be different things to different audiences. At one turn he will play a Bill Cosby type line, then he will turn around and pop off something more Jesse Jackson-esque. In no case does he seem at all principled or well thought out. He's just saying whatever he figures will work.

He’s running as a Dumocrat. He USED to be a GOP backer with his “I’m rich” mantra during the 80’s. He began drinking the lefty Kool Aid during the 90’s.

And yes, Barkley has used the race card more than once, even though he used to be married to a white woman. He’ll MOST probably win with the black vote in Bama’.

If Charles was smart, he would run as a Republican.

He would win with a lot more votes in ‘Bama.

Actually, why can’t he run as a Democrat, but sell people on conservatism?

A DINO. That’s a first.

Charles Barkley is basically an idiot.

Charles Barkley: “I Was a Republican Until They Lost Their Minds”

7/20/06

The Round Mound of Rebound, who only a few years ago was rumored to be a top Republican contender for governor of Alabama, has defected.

Barkley made his Democratic proclivities known after John “Don’t Call Me Cougar” Mellencamp offended former veep Dan “I Spell it ‘Potatoe’” Quayle by dedicating a recent performance to: “all the poor people who’ve been ignored by the current administration.”

“He’s right,” Sir Charles said in an recent interview. “The word conservative means discriminatory practically. It’s a form of political discrimination. What do the Republicans run on? Against gay marriage and for a war that makes no sense. A war that was based on faulty intelligence. That’s all they ever talk about. That and immigration. Another discriminatory argument for political gain.”

He seems to be a little immature, politically speaking. I don’t mean that in a bad way, I’m just remarking on the way he supports conservative values (social & otherwise), but then falls for the liberal media-driven political smears; he seems a bit too new to politics to be a candidate any time soon. Though he is a prime candidate for someone to take him on as a project to school him in the whole rationale of conservative thinking.

Basically, he’s got the bare essentials down, he needs lots of fine tuning.

The idea of more Dino’s is a great idea.

I wounder if we could get more done by taking over 1/3 of their party? Why not they have done it to us?

Charles does have one he!! of a mouth. Not much PC in there which would be a nice change.

Agreed.. Charles Barkley has an IQ in the 70-80 range. He’s not a smart guy.

Yes, he has been talking about running for governor for 15 years.

Barkley also has major temper and violence problems although that does not seem to have stopped John McCain.
