There's Nothing Conservative Or Principled About Helping A Democrat Beat John McCain In November

John Hawkins has it just about right. I respect his opinion. Seeing Hillary or Obama as POTUS/CIC doesn’t serve our troops well at all.

Having said that, I’ll take a wait and see attitude for now. Nine months till the election is an eternity in politics.

No, it won’t change anything, at all, but neither would our support. The best we can do is concentrate on local and state elections.

Frankly, I think that it would be better to have a Democrat in the Whitehouse because then we might have a better chance of electing conservative Republicans to Congress.

There is NOTHING conservative about working with the Democratic nominee against most of your fellow conservatives in order to grow government, socialize medicine, lose the war in Iraq, tilt the Supreme Court to the Left, and make Roe v. Wade the permanent law of the land.

And there's everything "conservative" about voting for a GOP nominee who would do the same? Oh and don't forget that McCain supports shamnesty as well.

What does McCain offer us? Nothing.

I was pretty angry about the 2006 election results, especially in the very close contests which cost us Congress, but in that sense, at least the old GOP Congress gave us some of what we wanted. McCain gives us nothing.

If the country is going to go to heck, might as well have a Democrat who does the driving. At least we can begin to make a comeback in the 2010 midterm elections and possibly take back the White House in 2012, presumably with a real conservative.

Mark Levin addressed this last night. John McCain made a career of being a maverick, reaching out to the democrats, going on liberal talk shows and attacking Republicans. So if we follow in his footsteps, become Mavericks and reach out to the other side, on election day, so he cant as president and head of Republican party where he would completely destroy what little remains.

Supporting McCain is for standing for nothing except POWER. That’s why all the establishment elected Republicans are falling in line. to cut their CUT.

And a lot of us conservatives don't believe a word of what he says about closing the border. McAmnesty is more than likely, if he gets elected, going to fall back on "The Democrats won't let me do it" excuse when it comes to fencing the border. That is his MO and his history.

I would suggest that John McCain think about naming his VP now. I think that who his VP is will probably determine whether I support him. Waiting until September to learn that is probably not a good strategy for him.

Consider how important for the conservative movement it would be if, say, Hillary won the popular vote by 200,000, and it could be shown that 500,000 more Republicans voted for senate/house races but . . . hmm, appeared to have left president blank? Seems to me that message would be pretty hard to miss next time around.

Tell that to Republicans in California who watched a Republican Governor embrace massive spending, borrowing and Democrat Lite policies. I am not looking forward to that on the federal level in 2009. John Hawkins - the lesser of two evils is still evil. If I want liberal policies, let them come from a Democrat so I can in good conscience oppose them.
