You said “GM is still the number one automaker in the world.” I was pointing out it is all but a dead heat.

Technically, I think that car is more german than american. It’s a copy of an opel.

I am asking about the Camaro SS because it needs to compete against the Shelby GT500 and I am asking about the Sky Redline because I just bought one. I am also asking if the G8 GXP will have the 430hp LS3. I have owned three Trans-Ams and two Mustang Cobras, so I do know something about muscle cars.

Actually, the Opel is virtually the same as the Sky Redline, with different badging. All are made in GM’s Wilmington Delaware facility. The lion’s share of the production is shipped overseas as the Opel GT.

The EcoTech 2.0L engine in this vehicle has the highest specific output per displacement of anything built in the history of GM.

You’re going to flat fall in love with the Sky RL. For the money, it’s simply amazing.

the SKY RL is gonna blow you away...the Camaro SS will
have the 505 hp as an option.....this caused a quagmire for GM because of the Vette’s successful sales. SECRET......a VETTE is coming in base trim........no onstar....no XM and get this roll up windows.........just balls and motor...of course in 2 seat trim......the twin turbo BLUE DEMON is the next world class news

I cannot let the cat outta the bag with the G8 but the GOAT was a disappointment.........as per Pontiac’s past.......the GOAT IS COMING and you gonna love it.......motor and body ( I did not tell you that...lol)

The ecotech was designed IN GERMNANY in an Opel office building...engineering largely done by lotus and saab...with a little bit of input by pontiac...intended to replace the pontiac designed quad 4 engines. All four of these companies are currently GM subsidiaries. This is HARDLY an american engine. It’s more european than anything...primarily english I suppose. THis engine is likely to be found in german, swedish, english, australian, and maybe even korean, chinese, and japanese automobiles. If it isn’t currently, it probably will be very soon. It should blow away anything toyota or honda can come up with in the near future. I just hope the UAW doesn’t run GM into the ground before GM can conquer the world with this little motor.

You're a fan of the Bowtie Brigade; you'll like this:

Chevy’s R07 Racing Engine: a Chip Off the Old Small Block

First, GM developed the new Impala SS exclusively for NASCAR Nextel Cup Competition. Now, it’s replacing the smallblock, second-generation (SB2) engine, NASCAR’s workhorse since 1998. Besides being more competitive, the new powerplant will be safer, less costly, and more reliable. The R07, short for “Racing 2007,” is GM’s first purpose-built NASCAR racing engine.

"You're a fan of the Bowtie Brigade; you'll like this: Chevy’s R07 Racing Engine: a Chip Off the Old Small Block"

Indeed I am, and indeed it is.
What do you think the (new) 430HP "LS3" used today in the C6 from '07 on is, only with FE'd?

"First, GM developed the new Impala SS exclusively for NASCAR Nextel Cup Competition."

At the risk of being priggish, it's Sprint Cup. :o)
{not to worry, next year it'll be Empty Cup}

"Now, it’s replacing the smallblock, second-generation (SB2) engine, NASCAR’s workhorse since 1998."

Yup, $2x1010 R&D for the LSx series, apparently, down the drain.

"Besides being more competitive, the new powerplant will be safer, less costly, and more reliable."

Not to mention from an engineering POV, ready to accommodate such modifications as POD etc in the near future. One reason we at a gearhead forum I've been known to frequent were given for GM making the change, anyway.
Bottom line: GM's not sitting on their keisters smokin' & jokin'.

"The R07, short for “Racing 2007,” is GM’s first purpose-built NASCAR racing engine."

That's what we're told, anyway.
The R07's been in-use since the middle of last year.
Remember the engines fragging last year, why some of the Chev teams stuck with the LS series?

Well GM's people noodled out the issue(s).

...& now it's *show time*. :^)

I wasn’t being facetious, I would love to have a new Suburban and buy American. I currently own a '92 Toyota and know The Big 3 couldn't compete with quality. You said you've worked there 21 years and quality will set records. I would like to know what they have done to improve.

thx for the opportunity..........my part w/ GM is marketing and product specific training to dealerships ....

.. To start look at an 06 Tahoe or Suburban, specifically the front and rear bumpers.........same BTW w/ the pickups.
Ever notice in all these type vehicles that bumpers have gaps and lots are unlevel appearances..One corner higher or lower than the other, the reason is those bumpers are bracket to frame attached....a bump or ill aligned bolt and gaps ...........I’ll come back to this point in a bit.....

...2nd point.....under that front bumper is the front wheel suspension...tie rods..stabilizer links , pitman arms , sway bars and massive control arms top and bottom.
Key here is that suspension is the same for all makes .
....I’ll come back to this point in a second as well

3td point. GM employs a marriage of brakes ,motor, and computer in terms called stabililink, stability control and the ability to determine a tire with lost traction can have the brakes applied in nano seconds slowing the wheel to regain traction instantly, independently.

4th point. putting all of this together to introduce an SUV or pick-up that is the wisest, most efficient and MOSTLY the safest product in this venue EVER. Here is how......

..........................................................

By starting with a frame, crap canning the old world suspension and replacing it with electronic speed sensative steering by employing rack and pinion steering , add coil over strut suspension on all four wheels......Now attach the stabililink to the brakes and push the on button, you cannot flip this vehicle...PROUD BOAST HUH

Now on this frame and an industry first, the shell of the Tahoe, Suburban ,pickup is assembled and then the sheet metal is assembled to the shell.....Never before done by anyone.........

So let me tie all this together to appreciate the complete WORLD EXCLUSIVE package...

...Ever ride in the very back seat of a bus , then hit a speed bump, the most violence is in that back seat as the energy absorbed must be spent in the most vulnerable point

One more point you have seen and felt in the old suspension, turn and the vehicle “rolls beyond the wheel well “ or sway.............not anymore...

By adding rack and pinion steering ,coupled with coil over strut suspension, by assembling the shell to the frame and now assembling the sheet metal to that shell, No sway,no weight over wheel well counter camber, no roll over, period

No violence in any seat

Remember that front bumper I referenced to start on an 06 Tahoe/Suburban....Look at the new Tahoe / Suburban,...no gaps, seamless bumpers and an appearance as straight as straight is........reason again is the all external pieces are assembled to the shell ,not to the frame....

there is absolutely more but the point in typing is made,
however with your knowledge and experience consider this...
drive any older style GM or even Ford or Dodge product, then test drive a new Tahoe, the WORLD CLASS differences are as obvious and appreciated at dating Rosie O Donnell or todays
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMWEAR MODEL.
