"Barack Will Never Allow You to Go Back to Your Lives as Usual." (YES IT CAN get creepier)

"Barack Will Never Allow You to Go Back to Your Lives as Usual."

Last night I appeared on Hugh's show, and his producer Duane mentioned a Michelle Obama speech at UCLA. Captain Ed talked about this a bit, but I hadn't seen anyone transcribe the part of the speech where it gets a little... unnerving. It starts at about 8:41 in the audio.

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

I'm sorry, nowhere in the Constitution does it authorize the President of the United States to demand anyone shed their cynicism. And I'm all for people pushing themselves to be better, but I don't think the President demanding it is the way to go about it.

And what if we kind of like our lives as usual? What about Americans' freedom to be uninvolved and uninformed?

Darleen at Protein Wisdom transcribed what follows:

"You have to stay at the seat at the table of democracy with a man like Barack Obama not just on Tuesday but in a year from now, in four years from now, in eights years from now, you will have to be engaged."

Ah. Apparently apathy will be criminalized, then?

Does anybody on the left side of the aisle find this rhetoric a little creepy? Isn't this describing an authoritarian presidency way beyond anything George W. Bush has done or proposed?

Do the powers of the presidency really encompass everything Michelle says Obama wants and plans to do? Based on this rhetoric, isn't he actually running for messiah?

She hasn’t said one thing about the US before the year 2007 that would make her proud to be a citizen of the greatest nation in the history of mankind that has placed her amongst the most privliged of the elite in this country.

I never thought that I would see a spouse of a presidential candidate who was more of a narcissistic, arrogant, hubristic, self-entitled, and maddening solipsist than Hilary Clinton. To the nation’s dismay, I think we have found her.

He also says he’s going to change the planet. If I were him I would first change speechwriters.

Why? So far, it's working.

That's what's scary.

"If the adult politicians in the Democratic Party are paying any attention, they have to be unnerved by this social psychology nonsense, which is a dry hole politically... buyers remorse has got to be setting in. Borderline kooks."

There are a few, and they're beyond alarm right now. This is going viral very quickly today.
It hit Day By Day for tomorrow (a conservative webcomic, pretty popular) and this one is gonna leave a mark.

Once this cartoon hits Digg, it's going to spark a lot of people to talk about this quite blatant socialistic and totalitarian outlook. It's completely unacceptable.

Amnesty for illegals will do that just fine- specifically Democrat Party dominance. The Republicans will keep some senators for as much as 6 more years.

I would worry more if he were accompanied by gangs of “operatives” who would chivvy the crowds and lead the cheers. I worry about him a lot anyway.

I expect that either the Clintons or Hussein as President and a Democrat Congress will give us the FD expanded to include the Internet. It will stifle communication among Conservatives.

The Clintons are just a crime family. Obama is potentially something much worse.

McCain will put off the Democrat Century for four years, anyway. If he manages to bring in a few more Republicans to the Congress maybe they will have the backbone to avoid Amnesty and avoid prohibiting the state measures that are getting a handle on wetbackery bit by bit.

They are running an ad here that talk has him talking about all of us being our brother’s keeper...

It makes my skin crawl more than that whole compassionate conservative rhetoric ever did. Why is no one jumping all over him for quoting from the Bible? You know if a repub did the press would be all over it! His inaccurate use of Biblical ideals is offensive! He is really twisting things into that "highly intellectual virtue" described in Atlas Shrugged.

Just what the heck does he mean? Is he going to take away my money and distribute it charitably in my name to his own agenda(you can bet that is exactly what he means)?

All his nuanced language scares the heck out of me. Our ship may be a bit lost with McCain or even sunk with Hillary, but our nation is extinct with Obama.

He could be one of many “antichrists” that have gone out into the world already...but I don’t think he is the big AC.

Yikes- is the phrase “brother’s keeper” really in the ad, or is it implied?
