To: Slings and Arrows
Mine is far more devious, she will start out climbing on you and purring, so you just ignore her hoping she will see a deer or squirrel and leave you alone. If that doesn't work she starts pawing your face, then rubbing her chin on your jaw.

If you keep playing possum through this she gives you one last warning by licking the end of your nose, that is always the last thing she does - cleans where she is about to bite. She is 15 years old now and has been doing that since she was a little kitten.

I guess I can understand why she does it, it certainly gets the covers flying and me out of bed yelling in a hurry.
