Hyperbole is often used as a substitute for a sound argument. How about we dispense with the jingoisms and discuss this situation rationally?

Why do you slide right by JasonC's continuously nasty posts but decide to chide MrPiper for his post?

If you are really concerned about people being rude and bitter in their posting then you'll clean your own side's house first . . . unless that is you don't really care and are just trying to get the group #3's to just shut up and vote for your guy.

I already know what you think, and I do not care because you are impotent. You couldn't get Thompson into double digits. I liked Thompson, I would have voted for him, but you-all didn't, because you suck at politics. No big deal, there are other things in life. You might consider knitting.

Awww, bless your heart . . . it sure is cute watching you try and post at the big boy table.

"Don’t get caught up in the media hype and fall for what appears to be a fact when it is not written in stone. The GOP has a convention to choose their candidate, watch what happens there. "

This is what I'm hanging my hopes on. When the RNC contributions are counted, say about May or June, and there's nothing there but a giant sucking sound, maybe someone will tell Juan to take a hike for the good of the party or country or whatever.

All in all, this has been a hell of a thread.

If you are sure he will lose anyway, go ahead and vote for him, there isn't any danger in it, is there? And you can at least say you did everything in your own power to prevent a US surrender in the war, everything in your power to stop the left from raising taxes in the middle of a recession, and everything in your power to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

Believe me, people, Iran will get and soon use them if Obama wins, and the only political issue that will matter to the American people after that event, is who did what to stop it before it happened. If your answer is "well, I voted for Duncan Hunter in the primaries, then I had a hissyfit", they are not going to see in that a reason to entrust you with the nation's security.

It must suck to live in a world where there's a muslim boogeyman behind every door.

I hope you are able to get enough sleep at night.

You in post #130: I don't care, I am keeping my party pure of hissyfit hyperpartisans

You in post #161: you can explain that your self satisfaction at your own purity prevented you from raising a finger.

Hmm, so while trying to keep your party pure you are going to piss and moan about people wanting to keep the party pure.

Ooooooooookkkaaaaaaayyyyy.

Damn, my irony meter just got busted.

legislators can't pass anything without being bipartisan because that is the genius of Madison's system. Too partisan things are still attempted, they routinely die

Oh goody! That means we really don't have to worry about the hard left socialism crap you guys are trying to scare us with.

Thanks for laying that to rest.

“Rather than just saying I am wrong (which is completely unhelpful), you could give me a link to fact check.”

You posted:“I’m not positive, but I think McCain fought against the larger tax cuts because he wanted spending cuts.”

That is incorrect. McCain fought the tax cuts for class warfare reasons.

Look up your own link.

>> There is a fourth group. People like myself at this point in time eight months before the election, who are holding back support.

McCain needs to move right and I take the wait and see approach.<<

Me too. Are you listening, Bob, there is a 4th group. I voted for Duncan Hunter in the Texas primary today (early voting). Some of the posters on this thread would vote with Ted Kennedy for Amnesty. I am waiting for some sign from McCain that he sees how profoundly he disappointed us last year.

This is quite a thread you got going. Seems you’ve provoke lots of good discussion.

Not being a registered member of any political party, the nation, not a political party tops my political loyalties. Some of my decision when voting is based on upholding law. All the front running candidates are intent on enacting legislation that pardons the unlawful behavior of millions that entered our nation illegally. I’ll not give my approval of the intents with my vote.

I believe in a very strict interpretation of the constitution, and too often find both parties are lax in their interpretations.

Both the Democrats and Republicans are for big government, often using the government agencies to pay favor to political cronies.

On a more personal level, my personal financial situation is important. The Democrats are tax happy, which lowers the amount of disposable income I am left with. The Republicans are debt happy, which devalues of the dollar, thus increasing the cost of goods, and lowering the amount of disposable income I am left with. Quite honestly, as much as I dislike taxes, they are more direct, and by adjusting personal investment and spending habits, I can claim to have some amount of control over how severely they impact me. On a personal level, I have no control over the effects of the devaluation of the dollar.

Crime control is another hot issue for me. Both political parties give me the sense their approach to crime is one of management, like a business, and not the eradication of crime, especially violent crime.

I will vote come November, but my vote will not be cast because of membership to a political party, race, gender, or other distractions.

Your reply is becoming the New Conservative Mantra.. you should go get a new talking point really.

1. I never insulted anyone. If you felt insulted then maybe you should reflect more carefully on why you are making the decisions that you make.

2. If direct points of logic make you feel insulted then maybe you should reflect on your decision not to support the GOP candidate and exactly what that will mean to the country.

3. As a Conservative I have always put Country before Self interest. After Nov I can live with a clear conscious that I supported the best possible candidate in these challenging times. Can You?

4. These very blogs will maintain a history of your inability to grasp the larger picture and in the event that Barrack Obama wins the Presidency and destroys Conservatism in this country (as I have warned he will do) then you will be the cause and will have to live with that.

Well Bob, I’d imagine it’s because people come to FR to debate the issues and attempt to persuade others to their viewpoint.

Good to see you’re still an idiot.

Do I know you? I can't recall ever exchanging a post with you before this, although I suppose it's possible. I tend not to remember the more clownish posters on this site, and you certainly seem to fit that description.

That said, you seem to dispute my point. May I assume that in your mind this site isn't a place to "debate the issues and attempt to persuade others to their viewpoint"? What, then, would you suggest we do here?
