My most recent one went something like this:

I was waiting for my friend, I guess we were going to the beach. I think somebody stuck one of my shoes in sand, mud or cement. Then he shows up with a girl he dated in high school, who is now married.

Second part:

I was in Manhattan or Brooklyn, going into a store. I would guess something may have happened in there because there were a few cops. I go in, and one of them asks to see ID, don't know why. He leans close, asks if I'm something like 15, I say "No, I'm 22." I open my wallet to take out my license, and it was on the wrong side and reversed. I also happened to have what I guess was a CT concealed carry permit. Upon seeing that, this scholarly cop tells me "This makes you a gunman." I was incredulous at hearing that, but unfortunately before I could correct him, I woke up.

Yesterday morning, I had a peculiar and very vivid dream just before waking— me and wife #2 were trying to get settled in my deceased wife’s first house- the one we had together, decades ago.

I couldn’t get Miss Emily’s car parked in the garage- which was rotated 90 degrees from reality- until I realized the garage had two sets of doors, one inside the other, that had to be opened together.

Got the car parked- noticed the kitchen was in the garage— but in the dream, it made sense, because I recalled the house before that was the same way. ( Not in reality- this was some weird dream logic at work... )

And naturally, our now-dead dog Taffy was waiting for us, alive & kicking in the hallway...

A few mornings ago, I had this very strange dream about turtles. I was walking with my dog on one of our favorite trails that goes through the woods in Concord and Carlisle. As we were walking down the trail, I started hearing crackling noises in the ice around me. Suddenly, turtles started poking their heads through the ice. Their serpent-like heads. Then they began coming up through the ice, shell and all.

My dog continues walking like all was normal but there were literally hundreds of turtles now coming up through the ice and snow all around me. I started running faster to get away. There were turtles everywhere! And I got the feeling that they were laughing at me for some reason. I had to get away and I ran faster and faster. My dog, thinking I was playing, started barking and jumping up on me, slowing me down.

As I approached my car in the parking lot, there were now thousands of turtles on either side of me, in layers, falling all over each other, and all moving in their slow, deliberate way.

I ran to my car, jerked open the door handle, and more turtles started falling all around my feet - my car was jammed packed with live, slithering turtles!

It was at that point that I (thankfully) woke up.

I had nightmares about mufflers and woke up exhausted.

I dreamed that we were winning the war in Iraq but no one cares, George Bush was no longer considered a conservative, the Democrats were voted into Congress because the Republicans weren’t conservative enough, and John McCain, Hillary Clinton, or some black guy from Chicago is going to be our next President.

How’s that for weird?

i wonder if this post will get in before this thread is pulled.

i stopped to take a nap on a recent long drive. upon falling asleep in my car, i dreamed that i had fallen asleep at the wheel while driving. i woke up screaming with my heart going 300 beats/minute grasping for the wheel. scary stuff.

I dreamed that Bing Crosby was speaking seriously to a room full of nuns. The nuns were watching a cat play under Bing Crosby’s straw hat on the mantel behind him. The nuns’ laughter sounded like tinkling bells. It was very sweet.

Then these guys show up yodeling and mess up everything

The other night I dreamed that Hillary was trying to convince me to vote for her and she was like about 8 months pregnant! Talk about a nightmare.

I’ve had that dream a more than once. It’s got to be a combination of all the controls of a car while you’re sleeping telling your mind that you’re at the wheel and driving. Coming out of sleep and seeing the steering wheel and looking through the windshield make it extra fun.

I purposely shift away from the wheel when I’m car-napping.
