Democratic Base Fissures
Although attention has been focused on McCain's problems with the GOP base, there are indications that some Democrats might defect if Obama is the party's nominee. Overall, 20% of white Democratic voters say they would vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee. That is twice the percentage of white Democrats who say they would support McCain in a Clinton-McCain matchup. Older Democrats (ages 65 and older), lower-income and less educated Democrats also would support McCain at higher levels if Obama rather than Clinton is the party's nominee.

Jveritas, I can only speak on the grassroot level, but I have spoken with quite a few life long democrates who said they would never vote for Barak.
I believe it will be more than 20%. I also believe the majority of Independents will vote Republican if Obama is the Democrat nominee. Which is why I’ve always said all these big rallies for Obama is just the leftist, crazy people and once the general election comes around, a different story will be told.
Blacks believe Republicans ignored their plight for 100 years after slavery and the Democrats came along about 1958 or so and realized here was a big block of voters looking for handouts in return for their vote. The Democrats got what they wanted - votes. The blacks got 50 years of dependency on the Government.

And that highlights the problem even if Blacks turnout in high numbers, they are only 13% of the total US population, Che Obama cannot win with those numbers.

Correct. Only 20% will admit it to a pollster. The other 80% won't admit it out of fear that they'll be turned into the PC Police, and sent to Reeducation Camps.

(For the record, even though I can’t support McCain, I sure as heck won’t be voting for the hard-core socialist Obama. But there are a bunch of people who will, out of protest.)
That strategy might work in a caucus, but behind the curtain it wouldn’t bother them. Just like New Hampshire(?)
Barry had a lock on it and Hillary won instead. Of course, those people may help offset our side that refuse to vote for McCain.
