Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she's pregnant with 5th child and is due sometime in May

Associated Press - March 5, 2008 10:43 PM ET

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband are expecting their fifth child.

Palin, 44, wouldn't say whether the child will be a boy or a girl, explaining that she had not shared that with their children yet. The baby is due in mid-May.

She and her husband, Todd, have three girls and a boy, ages 6 to 18. Their oldest, Track, enlisted in the Army last year.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift was the nation's first governor to give birth while in office. She had twin girls May 15, 2001.

Palin has been mentioned as a potential running mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

She's just saying this because she knows a McCain VP slot is the kiss of death for her future political career.

Apparently it hasn't hurt him to be named Track--he's a hero in my book.

What in the world is wrong with having 5 kids? My husband and I do, and we love them all, and are very proud of them and our 11 grandkids.

Her gun nut hubby got to name the one son Enfield.
She has a wicked sense of humor.

I do not see where anyone here criticized having 5 kids.

My grandmother had fourteen. Nine boys, five girls.

I guess that’s better than being named Mauser or Mosin-Nagant. ;-)

"My grandmother had fourteen. Nine boys, five girls."

In our parish, we have a youngish (40's?) couple with 8 kids. Six boys and two girls. Two in college.

At 44 and now in a taxpayer paid position, she should have accepted her four kids and concentrated on her duties as governor.

That’s pretty incredible.

We have a close family despite being all over the country. I love it.

Cute kids with ridiculous “Hollywood” names.

I wonder if she is related to Monty Python’s Michael Palin.

Ask her to sing “the Lumberjack Song.” It must be popular in Alaska.

She's workin' on it...

Hubby is a frequent participant in the Iron Dog Race, sort of an Iditarod, but with snowmobiles instead of huskies.

Very funny post from another thread:

Gotta love a girl who names her kids after her sled dogs!
