I listened to Richard Winters, the Lt. who commanded the real unit that was portrayed in "Band of Brothers" say that there were men in his town who comitted suicide because they were not accepted.

My own father gorged himself on banannas and milk just minutes before he went to join so he could pass the minimum weight requirement.

Interesting. When I was in the middle of divorce and child support woes, this was exactly how I fantacised dealing with DSHS offices. Right down to the abandoned bike. Naturally I would have worn gloves and no part of my flesh would have touched anything. I also would have worn one of those white masks guys wear while sanding sheetrock.
