People who have been injured while walking and texting on their cell phones may be in luck.

A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

This is NOT solving the problem...

Next we'll have cell phoners bumping into other cell phoners.

What REALLY is needed: pass a law requiring every cell phoner to wear a Forehead Bumper.

Wouldn’t it be simpler just to outlaw inane, redundant, meaningless communications?

The lady next door is on her cell phone the second she walks out the door gets in her car and drives away. I am sure she is on it the whole time she is gone to the local store for a loaf of bread and does not get off it until she returns home at which time she tells the person on the other end "well I am home. I will call you when I go out again". Idiots.

They ought to let the lamp poss slightly shock the people-that would solve the problem better.

Wow, didn't expect this much cell phone angst. I'm just wondering if any of you have cell phone costumes:

I cannot count the number of times that I have had to dodge out of the way while walking past some idiot texting and not looking. They are all young. I think from now on I’m gonna stick my foot out and trip them instead of dodge them when they walk into me.

I was following a car home from Church last Sunday and thought “It's too early to be THAT drunk on Sunday morning”. I followed her from a “safe distance” for about two miles.

She crossed the center stripe into oncoming traffic, ran off the right shoulder TWICE, hit the curb on the left side after making a right turn, over-corrected and hit the right curb, made a decent left turn, ran off the right shoulder AGAIN, and stopped dead in the road AFTER going past her next left turn.

As she backed up and made her turn, I saw the culprit - talking on a cell phone.

I've seen morons walk into lamp posts and more, when they were simply talking on a cell phone. Did you ever notice how many folks seem to look up in the air when they are yakking?

Hey! How about bars?

So Randi Rhodes walked into a bar and said, "Ouch!"

As government tries protects it’s subjects from their own idiocy, society contiues to sink towards the lowest common denominator.

That would be the "Liberal Dumbass".

Absolutely! This will enable people to hit even MORE lamposts

This is a good thing. Pain, blood, injury not funny.

People bumping into padded lampposts - funny. Aim a camera at each lamppost, edit the footage, comedy gold.

I dont dodge out of their way. I walk right into them. Same thing with those people who spread out clear across the sidewalk and slow down to a crawl — just walk right through them as if they are not there. For people with those aisle-blocking baby coaches, I stand right squarely in front of them and do not move.

Let them learn they are not in this world alone.
