Let the fools waste their time and money. the more time these dumbsh*t housewives are spending on line and watching Doprah, the less time they are spending clogging the roads and nagging their neighbors.
I suppose the calls are screened and the show isn’t actually live. Otherwise, it would be interesting to watch Oprah’s face when a caller started to bring in quotations from Mein Kampf with the words, “I think Hitler had it right when he said...”.
Of course, if these loonies objected to the source of the quote, they could be hoist on their own petard. This is the type of attack Buckley used to use against moral relativism.
People actually know better when you put it in these terms.
I wonder if Oprah will ever go the Kool-Aid and cyanide route.
This “Course In Miracles” crap worked its way from The Unity Church bunch and infiltrated various “12 Step” programs like AA and every other “alphabet”-aholic group over the past 20 years. It’s a bunch of “have faith in faith” gobblygook which fits in well her boy Obama’s “hope and change” messianic mission. In some ways, it’s not much different than the “prosperity theologians” that buy the TV airtime.
=============================================
"One caller into the show told Oprah that she was a CatholicMuslim, and was having trouble seeing how Eckhart's teachings could be reconciled with her Catholicism Muslim faith. Oprah responded that the caller must simply realize that Christianity Islam is but one of many ways to achieve the 'higher consciousness,' and that the belief that one must follow a set of doctrines is a consequence of 'egoiic consciousness.' While Christianitythe Muslim faith is a valid way to achieve high states of spirituality, it must not be considered a unique way, or a 'correct way'. " 'JesusMohammad,' said Oprah, 'came to show us ChristAli-consciousness
JesusMohammad came to show us the way of the heart
' "She concluded, 'I don't believe that JesusMohammad came to start ChristianityIslam.'
" 'What JesusMohammad said is much deeper than what you, how the churchmosque interprets it. There's a depth to it. And it reflects your own depth when you read it. So there's no conflict between this teaching, which is purely spiritual, and any religion.' "

Yeah...I didn't think so..
And he’s got a big head!
God, save us! That Toile makes David Souter look like a Muscle Beach bully. What do you get at the end of the “course” — a biodegradeable certificate and a one-way ticket to Loony Land?
Probably named after Dietrich Eckart.
1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.
2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.
(Refrain)
3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for ‘twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me.
(Refrain)
4. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he’ll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I’ll share.
(Refrain)
Reminds me of 2nd Timothy 3:5-7:
"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
Cheers!
That is the exact same verse that always comes to my mind when I think about Oprah.
Doesn’t Oprah belong to Obama’s church?
That is good advice, JaneNC, to men dating oprahphiles. But I think this phenomenon is largely a result of people with too much time on their hands (in this case, mostly female) who have never experienced true hardship in life, poverty, etc. Those who have (of both sexes) are amazingly immune to this babble.
I recall the writer Lucian, who wrote of such similar scams in the times of the classic Romans — and Sinclair Lewis, I believe, who wrote of something similar.
Just the Elmer Gantry of our times.
The proof will be that in 3 years, these books will be sold for $0.10 in garage sales — and of no lasting value in life.
The problem is the damage this stuff does (and the time waste it causes) to many, especially females.
I guess 6 million Jews in Europe didn't desire wealth, health and happiness enough.
Or 2 million in Pol Pot's Cambodia.
Or millions of Russians when Stalin was Dictator.
It's easy to believe this lighter than air stuff when you live in a country where even our poorest have enough food, shelter, clothing, water, plumbing, electricity and a few extras like TV, a library to get books to read.
These new agers think that all their good thoughts will never let yechy stuff in their lives anymore. But somewhere in the Bible it says that God rains on both the good and the bad.
