My daughter was being bullied soon after we moved to the area. It was mostly happening on the bus and immediately after being dropped off at the bus stop.

The school has a zero tolerance policy and were trying to find out the name of the girl who was bullying. The apartment managers found out what was happening and met my daughter at the bus the next day. Had her show them who it was...confronted the girl with an ultimatum...”if you bully her or anyone else in the apartments, your entire family will be evicted”. They called the school to tell them who it was, and the whole matter had been resolved.

Or so we thought...the girl is starting to get onery again. The mom doesn’t speak english (she wears a face veil). She tells another person she thinks I am crazy (because I dare to accuse her child, after her child was caught throwing my daughter to the ground by her hair and kicking her).

I’m going to teach my daughter how to pick up an equalizer...such as a stick, a steel bar, or a broken table leg...and defend herself!

Its easier for the schools to drive out the victims than the culprits. Personnel experience with my sons at a jr HS with a socalled zero bullying tolerance policy.

excellent suggestion. Yes, every public school needs security cameras covering every inch of property (like casinos), drug dogs roaming the grounds, metal detectors at every entrance, closed campus for lunch, law enforcement teams assigned to every school, and a isolation study room for any violators on their first offense.

This will prepare all students for state or federal prison life, so they can assimulate much better into the general population. I fully agree, especially as a homeschooling mother of four.

I would put the “sarcasm” mark at the end, but I’m not being sarcastic, so that would be disingenuous.

There was a kid who use to whip me all the time when I was in the six grade. He was much bigger than me and he seemed to receive much joy from beating me about the head and face. I never ran from him because I knew he would find me the next day and continue his joy of beating the tar out of me.

Just before school let out for the summer I saw ol’ bully tough guy running toward me and I new what was coming. During all the times we had fought I had never cried. This time was different. This time he tore my shirt that my father had worked so hard to get for me that I cried. He laughed and said he would see me again. As he walked away I told him that one day I would be as big as him and the outcome would be different.

Long story short. Two years pass and I had not see the bully. I thought he had moved. One day as I was walking home from the bowling alley on Cleveland Avenue in East Point I saw the bully. He was strutting along like the Duke of Earl unaware that I was fast approaching him. When I got close to him I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around. I wish I could say that I wore him out but I didn’t. He beat the tar out of me again only this time it took a little longer for him to introduce my nose to my left and right ear.

I learned a valuable lesson that day. Some people you just gotta leave alone.

James

Those bullies need a serious time out! Yeah, that’ll teach ‘em!

Send her for Kung-fu lessons.

My nephew was heavily bullied by a kid in his 5th grade class at a Catholic Parochial school. The principal wouldn’t do anything because the Catholic school was the bully’s last chance as that boy had been expelled from three public schools for violence and had been held back twice for insufficient grade scores. He was almost 10 inches taller and two years older than my nephew. But my boy had already earned his junior black belt and the two boys settled their differences after school off the school property. The other kid never came back to school and his guardians moved the family to another state.

And my nephew? He was suspended for two days by the Parochial school for not turning the other cheek. The next year we started homeschooling. He is now 16 years old, in Masters training at the Kung-fu academy and an associate instructor of children in the martial arts. His future looks bright and he feels good about himself.

“) Hold down full-time jobs.

2) Deprogram their children in the evening to detoxify them from all the filth they picked up in their government school.

4) Manage all the affairs of their home and family, and any take home work from their job.

4) And,,,now you want them to be political activists as well??? Really?”

S’matter, truth hurt? Lots of folks do just that and more. Is that something you just can’t fathom in your quest to vilify any and all that might be involved in public schools?

I have a better idea. Shut down the corrupt government schools. Give people their money back!

There should be multiple cameras in these schools similar to a casino. No more excuses for these delinquents getting away with harrassing anyone.

No need for cameras. Any reasonably competent school administrator knows who his troublemakers are. IOW, if Billy is a known problem child and Johnny is a good student with no discipline problems, it's a fair bet that if there's a fight between them, Billy started it. The schools have to get away from these stupid zero tolerance rules that punish both sides in the fight. It's kinda like gun control - rules only matter to the people who obey them.

My girl has earn a 7th degree green belt in Tai Kwon Do...though that’s not quite enough to protect her against someone 3 years older than her with street smarts. (known for fighting dirty)

I would want the evidence to present in court when I sue on behalf of the bullied kid.

“Shut down the corrupt government schools. Give people their money back!”

Blah, blah, blah, same old rhetoric. Did it ever occur to you that WE are the ones responsible for the state of the schools today? Or is that a truth you can’t recognize either? This didn’t happen overnight.

I just read this thread and asked myself a question (again).

There’s poetry and potpurri threads and pinglists.
There’s the Banglist.
There’s the Knitter’s, saddlemaker’s, etc...

Where’s the parenting discussions ping list?

I’m a single Dad of 2 great Sons. I would make great use of a list such as this.

Okay, fair enough. And ... since we are responsible for this then we must:

Shut down the corrupt government schools.
Give people their money back

Good for her! You’re right about a bigger opponent. Have you talked to police, they might be of some help?

She will get her family evicted if she does anything more than talk. She has been warned by the management.

I’ve taught my daughter to use verbal skills. I am very heavy...and have often been called FAT. I have been known to say “I may be fat, but you’re ugly...and I can diet”. I’m teaching my daughter that she doesn’t need to let her feelings get hurt by words...she can fight fire with fire. :)
