Maybe it’s not appropriate to say this. Have any of you noticed that the precipitous decline of the GOP started with the murder of Terri? But the Republican Party hierarchy mistakenly thinks that because it at first defended Terri’s right to life and then ran into liberal-hyped polls to the contrary that its political problem is having initially defended her right to life. I think it was Fred D. Thompson who said he was “unfamiliar” with Terri’s murder. And Mitt Romney said he had no opinion on the matter. Could it be that grass-roots right-to-lifers lost interest in the GOP with this judicial murder?

Could it be that grass-roots right-to-lifers lost interest in the GOP with this judicial murder? I think you nailed it. If conservatives can't even trust that the GOP will act to protect the life of a single person, how can we trust that they will do anything else to protect the sanctity of life?
It should also be noted that all of the Democrats who Michael Schiavo supported in the 2006 elections lost.
