Suspect in Home Depot worker's death arrested in Fla. El Salvador on temporary protective status

RICHMOND — A man wanted for questioning in the death of a Home Depot store employee last month has been arrested in Florida and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the incident.

Julio C. Escolero, 24, was arrested in Fort Lauderale and is being held in the Broward County Jail with bond set at $1 million, said Fort Bend County Sheriff's spokeswoman Terriann Carlson.

Investigators said Escolero and another man were trying to steal pallets from the home improvement store on Feb. 18 when a worker, Donald Thomas, tried to stop them. The driver of a van ran over the 56-year-old worker, authorities said. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died March 8.

Carlson said investigators developed leads that pointed to Florida as a place where Escolero might be. He was arrested Saturday. Detectives traveled to Florida and interviewed Escolero.

Carlson said Escolero will appear in an extradition hearing and is expected to be brought back to Texas later this week.

Carlson said investigators are still searching for a second man, Saul Chicas, 32, in connection the incident. The men are from El Salvador are in the United States on temporary protective status, police said.

Silly me. I always thought there were enhancements to a murder charge for a murder committed during the course of another felony.

I suppose it doesn't apply to illegals.

For you dumb asses, they would be commonly referred to in the "community" as being on TPS

Don't you people know anything?

Temporary protected status (TPS) is a temporary immigration status granted by the United States to eligible nationals of designated countries (or parts thereof). It is granted where there is evidence of civil unrest, violence, or natural disasters, or where there are extraordinary, temporary conditions that that make a country impossible to return to or unsafe.

Why these individuals received it is anyone's guess.

Since this is interstate flight to avoid confrtontation in a hit and run incident, doesn’t it become a federal offense?

Family values don't stop at the border.

.....El Presidente Jorge Bush.

Bush is correct. What the Pesident forgot to tell us is that the illegal alien mexican scum crossing the border had no values to start with.

Thanks Bush.

What? The stealing stuff that wasn’t theirs, or running over someone trying to stop them from doing so and murdering that person???

Or, that person trying to stop them???

I could flip a coin, but I figure you could elaborate...

Sorry - not even remotely true, but not your fault. Yours is the government’s definition. As far as I know it’s just another immigration joke (April fool’s) played on the American people. I don’t believe it is ever temporary. It is usually extended over and over, presumably until the American people forget or the ‘immigrant’ dies of old age. This one is probably a leftover from the 1980’s unrest.

This administration's definition of temporary is until Amnesty is given to all Illegal aliens.
