May he be greeted by the welcoming arms of God.

This nation, and indeed the world, is a poorer place for his passing.

I’ll always remember his guest spot on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, the 90’s live/animated montage. An appearance there seemed to be like taking a dare to do a belly-flop off the high dive. I’m not sure how they put together the footage, but oftentimes you could just imagine the guest being peppered with all these offbeat and pushy questions from a guy sitting on a stool, with his answers later to be intercut with Space Ghost footage.

Anyway, Heston held his own pretty well, as I remember many did. The thing I’ll never forget is how “Space Ghost” started interrogating him about his teeth, asking him if he flossed and stuff. I got the impression that he was being crucified for being the only guy in Hollywood over 50 with his own teeth. He was game, though. Took it like a man. Never winced.

Rest in peace, Mr. Heston, and many thanks for your contributions to the entertainment world and to the NRA.

I was ten years old when I first saw Planet Of The Apes. I'll never forget the final scene where he comes upon the Statue of Liberty. One of those moments where you can feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

He's been a part of my life ever since. Go with God, Mr. Heston.

Ben-Hur is one of my favorite films of all time.

How many movies end with the the hero killing the good guy? Ben-Hur gets his revenge and realizes how hollow it is without true salvation.

Heston showed us what Hollywood might be like if it wasn't hell bent on degrading our culture.

RIP...He is one of the last ‘old guard’ from HWood. He understood what it means to be an American.

El Cid! Oh how I liked that movie. I fell in love with Sophia Loren in the movie. I am still (sort of) in love with her. And him.

One of the last real gentlemen left in Hollywood is gone. Requiescat in pace.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks. First Bill Buckley, now Chuck Heston.

Ben-Hur is a well made and elaborate movie. It saved MGM from bankruptcy. Charleton Heston is the American Idol.

God bless Charlton Heston.

A wonderful man with a great sense of humor and a first-class set of pipes.

For all the good he did as an advocate for gun rights, I don't relish when the phone starts to ring.

And my phone will start to ring tomorrow, Monday, and when I answer there will be this silent stretch, emptiness..., for a few seconds until this hillbilly voice comes on the line and says....

"Hi...how are yooo?
Ma name's Billy Ray Bungbot and Wayne LaPierre axed me personally me to call yooo, yes yooooo...
All broken up and heart-rent inside Wayne is right now what with the passing of Life-member Heston and all...
Otherwise he'd a called yoo personally hisself. Knowing he could count on yoo fer a prayer offering...

But his best line came as NRA president, "FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!"

Uh...does that mean we can take his gun now??? ;-)
