BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Authorities enter Eldorado-area temple (Fundamentalist LDS cult)
Go San Angelo ^ | 5 April 08 | Paul A. Anthony

Posted on 04/06/2008 5:27:22 AM PDT by SkyPilot

Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.

The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.

The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.

Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.

“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”

Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.

Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.

“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”

Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.

Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.

The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.

“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.

The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.

“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.

Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.

Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.

“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

Calling someone who committed adultery an adulterer is accurate. Why do you have a problem with that?

What about the rest? The "horny pedophile, and one who couldn't keep in it his pants, etc.? What exactly is *etc* supposed to include, anyway?

Why should colorcountry be obligated or responsible to provide the other links when you yourself made the comments? It becomes your responsibility then.

conservativegramma what you are trying to do is to force your to accept your dogma.

You have free agency to believe as you please, but when you keep posting mormon dogma and expecting it to stand unchallenged, you are in for resistance. Especially rankling is the posting of unBiblical passages from your mormon scriptures like the BOM and D&C and expecting it to be accepted.

IMO, (and that of others) you have free agency to post your opinions of the material posted by others, BUT when you continually post your unpleasant and false descriptions, opinions and judgments of other FReepers, your "free agency" has bumped up against the free agency of others. "

We are therefore allowed free agency to take offense. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

You can share or one can exchange their understanding but when one tries to take of away or become hostile towards another’s belief than they are venturing into unrighteous domination.

That is pure hogwash! "Unrighteous domination", my butt!

To quote about a jillion Freepers, "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen!"

conservativegramma what you are trying to do is to force your to accept your dogma.

No, what CG is trying to do is show you how to read the real testament of Jesus Christ and how context and original language work together to understand passages as they should be understood. There is no dogma involved. As one of your own wrote:

“If a faith will not bear to be investigated, if its preachers and professors are afraid to have it examined; their foundation must be very weak.”
- Apostle George A. Smith, Journal of Discourses, v. 14, p. 216

Sounds like you faith's foundation is very weak.

You did not post this part of the text which was in reference to "Again I have to correct you." ~ conservativegramma

But neither you nor I am are in the position to correct another.

I also have clarified that here when I said

The Lord gave us free will and I respect the fact you have your own understanding and opinion of other faiths.

[Which is find slam the LDS to your heart content!]

This last sentense is still in reference to trying to force one belief on another!

You can share or one can exchange their understanding but when one tries to take of away or become hostile towards another’s belief than they are venturing into unrighteous domination.

So you want to blast the LDS off the face of the earth in your opinion etc....

but unrighteous domination is telling someone else what to do and how to believe!

but unrighteous domination is telling someone else what to do and how to believe!

Dictionary: domination (dŏm'ə-nā'shən)
n. Control or power over another or others.
The exercise of such control or power.

I hardly think that correcting someone on an internet forum can correctly be defined as "domination"...as to "unrighteous".....

un·right·eous (n-rchs) adj.
1. Not righteous; wicked.
2. Not right or fair; unjust.

Your posts show that in your opinion anything that is posted disputing LDS dogma is "unrighteous" "wicked" and "unjust". Just another "persecution" claim.

Unrighteous domination huh?? LOL. Cool, didn’t realize I had it in me!

So let’s see now....the LDS gets to prosyltize on FR without question and poor little humble me is not allowed in any way to refute such behavior or I get accused of let’s see: unrighteous domination. LOL!

I think this is called the ‘Its right for me but not for thee’ approach.

BTW: If you are so concerned about ‘unrighteous domination’ might want to leave the LDS. They have patented that behavior and have taken the concept to new heights: Brainwashing.

You mean like the LDS does???? I can't think of anything more unrighteous than to parade an adulterer peepstone reprobate as a true prophet of God, then strongarm anyone with threats and excommunciation anyone who questions the true history of said prophet. You're right: That's an excellent description of unrighteous dominion.

You mean like the LDS does telling everyone non-mormon that their scriptures aren't translated correctly and the only correct interpretation is through J. Smith?????? The word hypocrisy mean anything to YOU?

At no time did I ever say to anyone what they had to believe.

Many faiths share with one another which one can accept what the other person says or dismiss it!

It is called choice!

More lying for the Lord there Resty?????? You don't have to say anything about telling people what they have to believe...your 'prophet' already did:

"If Joseph was verily a prophet . . . then his knowledge is of the most vital importance to the entire world. No man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., p. 189).
