Long-Term effort in Iraq can't be justified
The Ironton (OH) Tribune/irontontribune.com ^ | April 11, 2008 | Jim Crawford

There has never been an American war without opposition. So let’s recognize that there are differing and valid perspectives that make sense to many of us with different outcomes in mind.

In the last 50 years of American policy Republicans have been more associated with national defense than Democrats. They have been perceived as more attuned to protecting the nation from those who might threaten our nation.

That perception is changing. In a recent Pew research poll people stated they trusted Democrats more on Iraq than Republicans.

People this criminally stupid should not be permitted to vote because they lack the basic intellect to make an informed decision.

It says something about American reception to the Democratic argument we deserve to lose. There's something fascinatingly morbid about wanting to see your own country humiliated and beaten abroad.

In a perfect world, that would be the law.

And look at what CBS (et al) chooses to cover. Go to their website and check the latest headline stories - you’ll see a definite pattern of bias. Here are two of the three features that 60 Minutes will have Sunday night (disgusting):

State Of Corruption
Corruption in Iraq is so entrenched that militia groups known to target U.S. troops control some of Iraq’s ministries and have used those government funds and resources to kill Americans. Steve Kroft reports. | Watch Video

El Sistema
Through a system of early training and local orchestras, Venezuela has not only provided an uplifting musical experience for its at-risk youth, but also developed an orchestra that is world famous. Bob Simon reports. | Watch Video

SO, with millions of viewers, they’re featuring stories about a) the corruption in the new Iraq govt. (i.e., our dismal failure to make any good progress), and b) the glories of Venezuela (i.e., Hugo Chavez is okay).

How do we stand a chance with so much MSM propaganda and the vast majority of people (voters) not knowing the difference???

There has never been an American war without opposition from within, starting from the American Revolution which apparently had only about 40% support from those who lived here. The previous difference is that most Americans, whether they agreed or not with how a war started, wanted our side to win. Now we have noisy, seditious organizations who want the enemy to win.

The argument this fool makes is easy to deal with.

Look over the history of the past 200 years. Leaders of which political party held the Presidency when the foreign war in question started?

A President of which party had to clean up the mess to close out that war?

Yes, Iraq is an exception.

Yep, and that’s why McCain is going to win.

He got three sentences out before the liberal robo-script started. No record but quick on the draw nonetheless.
