EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police say they've never seen a faster speeder - 164 mph on Interstate 5. And on a motorcycle. And the evidence of the precise speed came from a video camera attached to the bike and aimed at the speedometer.

As long as he wasn’t tailgating, I don’t see a problem.
Only problem is a wreck at those speeds and what’s left of the rider isn’t even useable as an organ donor.
Maybe the speedo was off by a hundred miles an hour. Let’s watch the defense attorney try that.
This is not an anomaly, it is a trend among kamikaze sportbike riders. They video tape their exploits for YouTube, which is becoming the vehicle for peer-driven egomanaical self-destruction events. YouTube search “motorcycle illegal street racing” and “ghost rider” with a filter out of the Nicholas Cage movie.
Hmmmm!! Self incriminating evidence!!
BTW, Kelley’s mug shot is a priceless archetype.
I think they've been doing this for years, and I suspect almost all survive though.
He might could outrun the police cars, but he’ll never outrun thier radios.
(Checking the date to see if the statue of limitations has passed....)
I went 150 for a bit over 1 minute on the 5 twelve years ago.
In a convertible.
I did it carefully, lowering my tire air pressure, and doing it at 5 in the morning when the road was wide open. But I did it.
Been there, done that.
And to be done by me never, ever again.
(Of course, I wasn't so stupid as to videotape my speedometer....)
That’s pretty fast but on a bike that’s ludicrous speed.
Some of the best drivers I have ever seen are speeders.
Yollo - I hadn’t thought about the YouTube angle - jeez, girls beating girls, life threatening jack a** stunts, a couple days ago an angry wife detailed every humiliating thing she could think of about her soon to be ex-husband - this is definitely a trend!
A UK video showed a verified 225 MPH (not km). The CBR1000 in the Eugene incident had some more left in it, but it requires a turbo or supercharger, often on a Hayabusa, to get the UK speed. Some of these guys do wheelies above 150 (but not real high ones!).
Highways are dangerous places, speeding minimizes your time on those hazardous surfaces, the worse the roads are, the faster I go...for safety’s sake.
A guy I worked with on the ranges actually had this philosophy. Ever been to Ajo?
Would you be surprise if the rider had rigged his speedometer to claim he was going 100 miles per hour faster than he was on an internet posting. I view the video as interesting but hardly definnitive evidence.
It’s better to drink booze while doing so, kills the slower brain cells, and keeps the remaining ones on their toes.
The bike is capable of more than that and the officer observed him going “fast”.
