Judgment Day looms for Hillary Clinton the wrecker
The Times ^ | 4/20/2008 | Andrew Sullivan

Posted on 04/20/2008 8:37:38 AM PDT by markomalley

Even after all the hype, this Tuesday’s vote in Pennsylvania will be a watershed primary election. This isn’t because it could determine whether Hillary Clinton’s campaign continues on its brutal, nihilistic path towards the destruction of the most promising figure in the Democratic party since Kennedy.

It isn’t because it’s been an age since the last primary vote and every nasty toxin in American culture has been drawn to the surface by the Clinton poultice. It isn’t even because Pennsylvania is an indisputably important and large state that any Democrat needs to win in November.

It is because the Clintons have turned Pennsylvania into a microcosm of what they think the general election will be in November. And the Clintons are running as the Rove Republicans. If they fail to destroy Barack Obama as effectively as Karl Rove – Bush’s master of the dark arts – destroyed Al Gore and John Kerry in 2000 and 2004, with tactics just as brutal but even more personal, then they will have driven American politics to a critical point. They will have shown that the paradigm that has reigned in US politics for at least two decades has been shattered.

That’s what is being tested this coming week. It may be the most important vote in America until the final one in November.

For a month now, Obama has been pummelled by a Democrat in ways I have never witnessed in a primary campaign. Senator Hillary Clinton has directly argued that he is less qualified to be commander-in-chief than the Republican nominee, John McCain. She has said that she doesn’t know for sure that he is not a secret Muslim. She has said his choice of church is unacceptable to her.

Sullivan is still bitter over not being able to wear the wedding dress at St Patrick's and blames those evil republicans. Remember when this liar tried to promote himself as a conservative.
Since when have these conventions supposed to be only coronations. The whole purpose for these conventions was to have the candidates fight it out in person . The leftist media propagandists control the old media like lefty Sully have twisted our institutions into pure garbage.

....with tactics just as brutal ....

To a cockroach on the kitchen counter at 3:00 AM, just turning on the kitchen lights is considered a "brutal tactic".

The Democrats simply can't survive even-handed scrutiny and win a general election.

Writes hysterical Obama groupie Sullivan...And the Clintons are running as the Rove Republicans. If they fail to destroy Barack Obama as effectively as Karl Rove – Bush’s master of the dark arts – destroyed Al Gore and John Kerry in 2000 and 2004, with tactics just as brutal but even more personal...

These "dark arts" that Mr. Sullivan finds so odious were the (gasp) unmasking them as frauds and pretenders.

Andrew, ol' buddy.

Your messiah, Obama, is a poser.

He cares nothing for America, it's customs, it's heritage, and it's defense.

Obama will be similarly unmasked, and the "brutal" tactics will be ... asking him questions and watching his reaction.

Her campaign has insinuated that he was once a drug dealer. Her husband has equated him with the rabble-rousing preacher Jesse Jackson. The Clintons have publicly associated Obama with domestic terrorist William Ayers, with the militant Palestinian group Hamas, and with antisemitic demagogue Louis Farrakhan. And what is remarkable about all this is that most of it was not done by surrogates, but by a former president of the United States against a senator in his own party, and directly by Clinton herself. Every time you think: “Nah, they won’t go there, will they?” – they do.

Well, duh Andrew!

Welcome to Clinton politics of personal destruction, you are just dismayed the thin veneer of moral superiority dem's think they own are being exposed.

I'm sure you would think it perfectly O.K. for the Clinton's to do what they are doing to Obama to McCain

I keep hearing about how this campaign is oh so nasty.

It's "nasty" because people are starting to actually ask legitimate questions of their Anointed One (I'd say "Golden Boy" but heaven forbid I use that word)...

in fact, Hitlery will make history and surprisingly win Pennsylvania by more votes than are registered in the state!

It’s going to be funny when Hillary’s minions in the elections department “forget” to deliver ballots to the black precincts in Philly.

Hillary is setting up for the next election. If she destroys Obarama now, and he loses, she will be the front runner the next election.

I can believe that to be the Clintons' backup strategy. However, it remains to be seen whether the Democrat party has had its fill of the trashy couple.

I hope so, but I'm afraid that after the candidate is chosen, the Dems and the Drive-Bys will all unite behind their mullah -- er, their candidate.

It always amazes me how much credit Rove gets for Bush's victories. 2000 was almost a disaster. If Rove had sent Bush to Florida instead of California just before the election, we wouldn't have had the hanging chad debacle, with Bush barely eking out a victory. And 2004 was won, not by Rove's tactics, but by the Swift Boat Vets. Rove is a weasel, and the fact that he's advising McCain is disturbing. But as long as the libs think he's Oz, maybe they'll be distracted from whatever the alternative media can dig up on Obama.

I remember this Sullivan character and David Brock being offered up as conservatives.

Gotta wonder how many more homo spies are currently in the bushes on our side of the Alamo.

There, fixed it.

Thanks Always, I knew there was something troubling about the original quote, but couldn't put my finger on it. You hit the nail on the head.

Wow, interesting read. Brown was about to “spill the beans” on one of Clinton’s many scandals. This was NO accident.

Oh good grief, what silly drama queens these Dims are, Hillary and Hussein are the norm for the UnAmerican Democrat Party

As is this author, Sullivan.

The Dim “War Room” of the MSM/Hollywood/Academia has simply chosen Hussein this time around.

Come November, they will all align against the US and the Republican nominee, and everything will revert to normal again.

Thanks for summarizing so nicely and so succinctly what I was thinking when I read this. There's so much pathology to go around one hardly knows where to start. But the breathless tone of the writer, that there is something apocalyptic going on when in fact it's just two power mad, 60's radicals duking it out, is the main disconnect.

I think democrats are having buyers remorse on both candidates.

At least they got to be "buyers". By the time I got a chance to vote in the R primary, my top 4 candidates had left the race.
