If Only Al Gore Had Been Commander In Chief
Cashill.com ^ | 5/1/2008 | Jack Cashill

Posted on 05/01/2008 8:00:38 PM PDT by Sioux-san

This is the first in a two-part series.

When chief 9-11 operative Mohamed Atta arrived in the United States in June 2000, he had good reason to believe not only that Al Gore would be the next president, but that he would also be one tough adversary.

For Atta’s benefactor, Osama bin Laden, this was just as well. He was spoiling for a fight, and his beef was with Clinton and Gore, not Texas governor George Bush.

Truth be told, the boys of summer had been annoying bin Laden for the last eight years. They had particularly irked him with their treatment of Iraq.

In fact, two of the three specific gripes in bin Laden’s 1998 “kill all Americans” fatwa dealt with Iraq and America’s “continuing aggression against the Iraqi people.”

Just a week before that fatwa, President Clinton had piqued bin Laden by warning of “the very kind of threat Iraq poses now—a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists.”

As to Al Gore, bin Laden knew he would be a tougher customer than his boss. In 1991, while Clinton waffled back in Arkansas, Gore was only one of ten Democratic senators to take to the Senate floor in support of the Gulf War resolution, which barely passed 52 to 47.

I almost wish Gore would have won.

Almost think what the Supreme Court would look like today.

I would agree...Bin Laden had his plans laid out and the guy who happened to be president...didn’t much matter.

Even the actions after 9-11...its hard to say if Gore would have picked a better strategy or not. I doubt if Gore would have gone into Iraq, but he would sent tens of thousands of GI’s into Afghanistan. This is one of those “what if” situations that we could debate for years.

The url embedded into the link has three "/" after http: ... all you need to do is go in, delete one of the backslashes and it'll work fine.

Read the entire article. Cashill nails it.

You're absolutely right ... he does. Pitty that those on the Left are intellectually incapable of understanding what he's really saying. ;-)

The only thing Al Gore is tough on is the eyes and the chair holding up his fat ass. Why would Bin Laden be afraid of a sissy like Albert Gore? He’s about as tough as a five year old school girl.

I NEVER resort to name calling, but wishing that Al Gore had been in charge on 9/11 is the stupidest thought ever.

Thanks for keeping me from getting banned.

Some stronger comments entered my head.

I agree with your post #19.

Gore is an undereducated dolt. Stupid as well. Clinton, the compulsive masturbator, was too busy to be bothered.

After the 1993 attack on WTC, he was too busy (masturbating) to even visit the site.

All the libs expected Willy to be Hillary's bulldozer campaign trump card. Didn't exactly work that way.

The impotent old fool, no longer with access to innocent young girls, and lacking the strength to again rape anyone, is a bitter old man, stewing in the mess he made and is.

That his showing on Hillary's campaign trail resembles less of a bulldozer than a cat fart, might surprise some, but not me.

Things must be lively during the evenings in the Clinton household.

Oh, I forgot. There isn't one. Household, I mean.

These are two people who don't know how to do anything. I mean anything. Yet they both "understand" the "plight" and struggles that beset the "working people".

Jeez, what turds.

“and the price of gasoline would be edging toward $5 as a result of new carbon taxes.”

Actually - I was thinking more along the lines of a “terrorist tax”. Just like to offset Global Warming (which of course would have to wait), we would offset terrorism my having “Terrorist Credits” so all the guilt-ridden Americans (and the rest of us) could transfer Christian money into Muslim money - and thus keep the terrorists at bay. (Some might call it a bribe (I forgot the fancy word you use for pirates) - but it really isn't.)

Even comes with a snappy phrase:

Don't like terrorist attacks? Then pay your Terrorist Tax!

I think something needs to be added along side the title. This article was great but the headline is extremely misleading.

Are you asking if I read this column? Of course I did. This is a total slam on Clinton and Gore and Richard Clarke. Gore said to “kick their asses”, which means he once had a brain — Bush started off strong on the WOT, but didn’t keep up the momentum of his tough words and actions - he let the Lefties do him in. At least with Gore, the Republicans would have kept the fire lit under him. I will post part 2 when it comes out.
