No mention of whether this furthers the cause of separation from ROVA (the Rest of Virginia)

It would have to be much further south to do any good.

Sounded like an explosion at the Belvoir proving ground. I’m about a half mile from there.

Is there an active movement to do just that, separate from the rest of the state?

We could use one here in California.

These “earthquakes” happen everywhere in the country, even in Florida. It is just fashionable to get concerned about them now because of the recent unusual larger tremors in the midwest. 1.8 is probably a somewhat weaker disturbance than a not very close sonic boom.

No, it’s not very big. This was more of an “oh, that’s what that was” post.

Yup, I was at the epicenter. It was very, very, odd: there was a low-frequency and distant “boom” accompanied by an steady, powerfull, vibration felt through the building and the air that lasted for about three seconds. It did not sound like an explosion or thunder because there was no sharp “crack”; it sounded rather like someone had dropped and an enormous object on the ground far away. Afterward, it was unnaturally quite outside.

Super-hard trivia question: what seventies hit pop song used the word “Annandale” and made a reference to earthquakes in the same line?

It could be an omen.
