60% of the current run-up in crude is due to speculation/manipulation--nothing whatsoever to do with inventories or demand flow.

Yes, you are right. Now, every time an oil company executive sneezes or a saudi prince farts, it gets picked up by the news and subsequently tied to higher oil prices.

Not to worry though, oil prices have now gone vertical. They will drop hard, as soon as they’ve convinced a whole new crop of green futures traders to hold the bag.

The only fun part of it all is that at least one major house is going to find itself stuck and unable to unwind their bet on oil in time.

The company is required to report significant events. The AP chose to report it.

Another BP mess - is that the way the english run a company? They have had plenty of problems in Alaska and the fire in texas, just to name a couple of areas that they have failed to do properly since their purchase of these formally well run assets.
