Correct. That is why they were removed, but since polygamy is illegal, the removal was justified on that grounds alone.

Remind me again how many members of this 'compound' have been indicted for the crime of polygamy. I can't seem to find any names.

Thanks for the help.

Just fill in the blank with whatever you want. Works nicely in a fascist hillary/obama society.

If that is the premise, then when are the CPS people going to take Muslim kids from their polygamous homes? Nope, don’t think so!

These people were preyed upon and then abused...by the state of Texas. It was the women and children who were forced from their homes, however you feel about FLDS, the sad fact is that these kids were used as pawns and surprise! surprise! IT WAS ILLEGAL.

So if ANY illegal activity is going on in the home, or is believed to be happening, then the state can come in and take away the children?

How about in the jurisdictions where anti-sodomy laws are still on the books? If a neighbor alleges that Mr. and Mrs Smith are engaged in a little in-through-the-out-door activity, can CPS come in and take away the Smith children?

What is Mr. Smith is found to be cheating on his taxes? That's illegal. Take away the kids.

There are people accused and found guilty of crimes every day, and they often still keep custody of the children.

I agree, polygamy and bigamy are illegal. So why didn’t they arrest the men? The children aren’t polygamists, the state of Texas deemed all the children were in imminent danger of child and sexual abuse, when...most of them were not. In America, we don’t arrest people for something that might happen 10 years down the road.

I'm not for polygamy or adultery. But if you want to define what was going on with the LDS as "polygamy" then you're going to have start taking children away from a large percentage of Americans because millions practice "polygamy". It's not called that, but guy routinely sleep with multiple women. Sometimes they're married, sometimes not. The only difference is that the flds has called it legitimate behavior and formalized it. In both cases it's not marriage recognized by any legal authority.
