Thanks so much for your kind thoughts regarding my latest unpleasantness. As often happens, reports of my imminent demise are greatly exaggerated. I’ve been fighting a bowel obstruction for the last month, and won’t travel until we get it fixed. Hence, the speech cancellations.
We’ve embarked on a pretty aggressive course of treatment, and I’m on the mend. As for cancer, all the signs are good: Treatments are working, and genetic tests indicate that a new course of treatment has a good chance of real success.
So thanks, as always, for the thoughts and prayers — and continue sharing them with each other for others in need (like Jim Rob). I can’t tell you what a source of strength and reassurance you are.

p.s. I was diagnosed with Ca in December. Looks to be hereditary too. So far, all is well post surgery and rad.

My mom had a bowel obstruction when she was heading into senior citizen status. The docs did a little nip and patch job to bypass the obstruction and she was as good as new. Hopefully your repair job will go equally well. I’ve discovered that as one ages you start getting nickle and dimed with an assortment of ailments. That’s where the mental part comes in. I’m just rolling with the punches now, let the doctors do their thing (it’s amazing what they can do these days) and carry on.
I’m looking out the open sliding glass door of my condo right now as I Freep. It is mildly warm early in the morning, and everything looks green, growing, and beautiful. The large trees are swaying slightly in multiple shades of green, I can hear a lawnmower doing its thing in the distance, a dog occasionally barks, my cat wanders out on the balcony, the air smells fresh, a storm is coming later today, and it is satisfying, the everyday routine of living, isn’t it? So what’s a few aches and pains in the scheme of things. We’ve got our families, friends, and Freepers. Life is good.
