Mob of young men attacks
Man's skull fractured during beating; another attacked, robbed
Police suspect a mob of 20 to 30 young men who brutally attacked a motorist in Mount Clemens on Saturday may also be responsible for at least two other violent crimes that took place the same night.
Four people were taken into custody for questioning and police Sunday were hoping to interview a man who was beaten unconscious during the ordeal and was hospitalized with a fractured skull.
"This certainly was a frightening incident," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said.
The trouble began late Saturday and into early Sunday starting on North River Road near the Macomb Daily building when more than two dozen men wearing ball caps and baggy shorts blocked traffic in the street as they spread out in the street.
A 29-year-old female motorist attempted to drive past the crowd in the street and someone in the mob threw a brick at the car window. The car stopped and a man got out to see what had happened.
"At that point at least 12 of the subjects jumped on him, beating and kicking him several times to the point where he was unconscious," Hackel said. "A second man then got out of the car and also was attacked but not nearly as bad as the first individual."
The victim who was badly beaten was identified by WDIV-TV (Channel 4) as Andy Kauffman. He was reported to be in serious condition at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Diane Kish.
Kauffman's wife, Angelina, was quoted by the TV news report as saying she had no idea why the crowd attacked her car. "It just happened to be us, I guess," she said.
Meanwhile, sheriff's deputies were called to a Marathon gas station on North Gratiot about 30 minutes later to respond to a call of a fight progress.
At the gas station a man was beaten and robbed of his cell phone and wallet, Hackel said. The victim was not seriously hurt.
On Sunday, workers at the gas station said the man was confronted near a pay telephone. When the gas station attendant saw what was happening, he locked the front door. An employee said workers had to wash the man's blood from the door Sunday.
Police also are investigating to see whether a similar incident at Rec Bowl on Crocker Boulevard may be related to the same group of attackers.
"We had a rash of similar incidents all within about an hour's time frame," Hackel said. "There is a carnival going on at Gibraltar Trade Center which is where we believe the this group had been congregating before the trouble broke out."
Police said four suspects were taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct. Investigators want to talk with anyone who may have information on the incidents.

Nothing racial here as long as the press and officials don’t note the descrepancy but let it be white on black and we would have all kinds of “hate crime” charges.

Hey fellow MC residents. We live in Mt. Clemens and my kid works downtown. I reinforced today that if something like this happens to her, pepper spray and her accelerator are her best friends. She’s too young to carry.
My former boss made another dumb but common mistake. In his case, while driving down Somerset in New Brunswick (NJ, not Canada), he stopped when some guy standing on the corner appeared to try and ask him a question. Within seconds, he was carjacked.
Sadly, I can't carry in my car in New Jersey the way I did in Washington and Florida.
Good men are beaten down by PC crap.

No! No! No! The god-less government schools are utterly infiltrated from top to bottom with atheistic Marxists. ( Misnamed “liberals”.)
It is time to take the child **out** of the god-less government school and educate him in private or home schools that are thoroughly and completely God-centered in worldview. Children need to be thoroughly saturated in the Lord.
A government school moment of silence is not enough. In fact it is insulting.
The solution would be for so many children to leave the godless government schools that these places of utter moral dysfunction are completely SHUT DOWN!
