Nope. We were on the brink of an Ice Age back in the 70s, and the solution was to reduce population and cut back on technology in preparation for the crisis. Within a decade, they'll realize that anthropogenic global warming has been stopped through the heroic efforts of Al Gore, and they'll start preparing to fight the next global climate crisis ... for which the solution will again be to limit population and technology.

I don't know (Repeat, "I don't know") whether or not anthrogenic global warming is a serious problem, but I strongly doubt it is anything like as serious as alarmist claim. Nevertheless, I wouldn't characterize it as a big lie, so much as a delusion and a fad.
When this fad passes another will take its place and the same deluded fools will embrace it just a fervently.
A lot of the environmental movement is advanced by deliberate falsehoods, which their promulagators rationalize as necessary to a good cause. Personally, I perfer the cause of truth over any "movement".

You say that environmentalists are as dangerous as Communism. I would argue that environmentalism is the new face of Communism.
A good example of this is the almost universal condemnation of David Davies in the MSM for resigning his parliamentary seat over the attack on our civil liberties.
Everyone I speak to however understand what he has done and are thankful that he would potentially sacrifice his career for a point of principle.
I think our stiff upper lip, phlegmatic approach to life has been taken adbvantage of by the liberal/lefties, we are fed up with decent people falling foul of the law, Islam rising and taking over large segments of our cities, being lied to politicians who are out of touch with the working man, and a police force that is more interested in diversity training than catching criminals.
